I keep meaning to have a go at it but end up missing it for various reasons....
Held around June/July in wales somewhere.
Its basically a 22 odd mile cross country/fell race with a very novel angle.
I think (unsurprisingly) a Horse rider always win - although I believe that one year the first individual runner was only about half a minute behind - he must of been pig sick because William Hill put up a shit load of cash for anyone who can actually beat the first horse rider (£25,000).
But I guess you knew all that anyway....id be interested to hear from anyone whos had a go at it to....
its quite a good race (although not done it) as the horses have to have 'pit stops' i think, where it's assessed by a vet, has to rest for a set amount of time, and drink, its HR has to be below a certain level before continuing etc. so not impossible to beat just very hard!! of course the runners are allowed to kill themselves.
Not done it myself, but downed a couple of pints on holiday this summer with a fellrunner who does it every year. He really enjoys it and highly recommended it.
Hi I did this race this year its fantastic I highly recommend it. A glorious day, tough course a real sense of achievement at the end, well organised I hope to be back next year and do it all again.
