Hey all. Any ideas / recommendations for a good quality tready? I'm looking for one that I can use for some decent speedwork. Would be nice if it folded up but not essential.
its worth contacting your local gyms as they change their treadies fairly frequently. Mine is an ex gym quality one and it's still going strong. It is now third hand!!
SJ - I flirted with the idea of buying. I wanted something that was folding, had a minimum top speed of 11 mph, decent bed, big old motor, and programmable. The choice came down to 2 or 3 models. I think I tried out a Nordic Track T20 or T22. Seemed very nice but in the end I renewed a gym membership for another year.
Horizon Quantum II HRC has a top speed of 10mph, so your fastest pace of 6 min/m would not suit many for speed work. That treadmill just couldn't handle SJ
Yes, leg speed is the key! AR, those Nordic track ones look superb. In the quest to build up my aero bike fund, they might not be the optimal choice though.... hmmmmm
Good tip re the local gyms PSC - not many around these parts in the back end of beyond but I'll have a scout round
Joe, had your linked TM on my list but it dropped off with delivery issues (postcode excluded) and no chest strap compatibility (I'm a wannabe HADDer).
Am going for the Horizon Elite 507, bit more money but seems to fit my needs. The linked site also have ex showroom models for sale at discount (pick up only).

I have had a Horizon Quantum II HRC for 7 years and it has been excellent. Dont know if you can still get them new, but have seen them on e-bay.

Depends if you want the leg speed, no?
