Running in Manchester

Hi everyone,
I'm planning on spending next weekend back with my family in Manchester and want somewhere to go for a run or 2 whilst I'm there.
I was thinking of Heaton Park as it's fairly close to where I'll be staying, but as I haven't set foot in it in 30 years was wondering if anybody has any advice of the best place to run.
I know that there's a 5km park run on Saturday mornings, but I can't see me making it as I won't be getting in until about 3 am. There's also a twilight run in Bogart Hole Clough on the Friday evening that I'll miss.
Are there any group sessions or any events on the Sunday or Monday anywhere nearby ?

Used to stay in Prestwich and ran there a bit, but did spend more time heading through the clough and across the footbridge over the M60/ 62 and out along the trails that way.
Thanks Monique. I was thinking about the Clough as I grew up around there so may give that a shot. Mind you, last time I was in there, there was no footpath over the M62 as there was no M62.
Feeling old now.
