Ronnie O'sullivan

Bought Ronnie O'sullivan's new autobiography today. Just thumbed through it so far, but he is absolutely passionate about our sport and it seems to be as much about running as snooker (it's even called "Running").

Complete with stories of racing, training with people like Eamon Martin and Jason Ward and a 10K PB of 34'50" shows serious commitment.

He was nearly two minutes quicker than me at the Southern XC champs the year he set his 10k PB. Imagine how quick he'd be if he stopped messing about with all that snooker.  image

    Ronnie stats.

  • Remeber a report on him getting some impressive 38 minute XC times in RW years ago.

I've a picture of him at the 2009 National XC. However the file appears corrupted as I can't get it bigger than thumb nail size despite being 8GB.

  • Does he run in drag?  He appears to be a member of a ladies running club.

I seem to recall he was partial to an alice band at one time, but the correct club name is the rather unique Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies.

Make of that what you will.  image

  • He runs with a local club when he`s in Sheffield for the World Champs.

  • i re member him saying in an interview that running had become his main love.......he wished that he could do that fulltime........but he needed to play the snooker to pay the bills........snooker had become his everyday job that he had to do so that he could then run in his spare time.....

  • Rockin Ronnie does  a sub 35, 10k??? f off ...............!!!! The guy is a machine!

  • He runs the World Champs for a local club in Sheffield, I heardimage

I've been meaning to post this for a while.

    Ronnie at the National XC.

  • Ronnie is Ginger????

  • He's got dark hair hasn't he? Doesn't look much like him.

  • Maybe it's the one in the blue boots holding the bags

  • Looks like he is talking to Alex Higgins

  • Just finished the book Running and as said it's a great read and focused heavily on running. However it almost seems that he wrote the book as much for himself psychologically as he did for the readership

The book by Steve Peters looks great I might give it a read. Struggle with stress and "flight" mode so perhaps that would help

Ronnie O'Sullivan in the South of England Champs (2008 I think it was)

  • Flob. If you want some street cred never say Lol. Ronnie is a proper runner. Good on him.

  • XC is massive fun, Flob! Especially if there's a stream or summat to jump. Lovely muddy trails - oohhhh takes me back to my teenage years when our club coach had us track runners do XC races all through winter for strength and fitness (Greater London XC League in those days).

  • Yes, good old cross country (none of this trail running bollocks..). I took about a lap to get past him that year at Parliament Hill - I wondered why this bloke called Ronnie was so bloody popular infront of me! And yes, he is extremely hairy.

Actually had a chat with him after the Dunstable 10k back in about 2004/5. Nice bloke.

  • Flob - there is a marathon in London on 13 April if you are interested; here is a link to it -

  • Flob, no, I live in Germany now and migrated some 20 years ago into triathlon, although I run a lot in the forest with my dogs. Actually, OH and I swim with the dogs too!
