Ruffles - you should be careful when reading further through the thread as it does get pretty graphic at points. Just make sure you don't have a mouthful of yoghurt as you're browsing through as it could get messy!
Unless of course you followed in lurker mode last year - live? If so you'll know that Ady's thread was a laugh a minute. He took so much time out of a very busy schedule and always answered every question.
Angela - I believe it's a specially selected panel but Seren will confirm I'm sure!

I am toying with the idea of doing Manchester mara as a target 26.2 runners world reject (good online team name maybe)

Hi not sure.its done by a long term forumite who is good at these things......everyone has the chance to put a post on the thread to say what they are trying to achieve and what they have done etc..........they then pick six from a spread of different times.......
they don't usually pick someone who says they started running last month and want to do a marathon as there is a big injury risk factor.....they want to make sure that people have been running for a few months and are ready for the challenge .apart from that they seem to pick 6 good candidates.some are newish and some long time.......the mentors seem to work well....and a number of the threads keep going for years as they seeem to find a great support network....
you have to choose your own spring marathon and get a place....
I did it last year and was selected as a mentee. It has been a great experience and I learned loads so would highly recommend it. CharlieZBrown, i was going to run at parkrun yesterday but ended up volunteering instead as they were short on token giver-outers!
Just been for a nice slow 1.5 hours today, with dog. Some lovely heath running.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say good luck to all the finalists!! Not long to go now!!! I hope everyone has enjoyed these last seven days as much as I have!! A lot of new running buddies ... and A LOT of new races to get tempted by ;D!!!

Thank goodness it's tuesday, as I can take a rest now from watching all these voting process, and I'm not even in it!
hopefully this will be over soon and they won't take too long to announce the winners after they shut voting......

With 30 mins of voting left and me unlikely to win. I just want to send a big thanks out to the forum to everyone who has taken the time to follow the comp and support the finalists. I'm chuffed by the amount of votes I've generated and the amount of time people have taken to interact and support their fellow runners. What a great community.
Ruffles - Agree totally with you. It has been fun. Taking cues from Premiership Managers on winding people up has been interesting. Like the back of a newspaper sport pages.
I'm overwhelmed by the support I've had in work today - my first day back after being off for a week.
The regulars are indeed a tough crowd but I'm sure we all know they mean well. I hope they forgive us competition posters soon so we can get on with the business of learning from their running knowledge.
