Hi All,
Just a self motivating post really. I used to run quite a bit and loved it. One of my best acheivements was the one and only half marathon I did back in...2005, I think. I did a 1:37, which Im still pleased with.
Mid life has hit, businesses, kids etc. and I've hardly been out at all.
Today is the day (I think...).
Wish me luck...
Si

Good luck Si. In a similar position here
hope yopu are back by now.otherwise i think you might suffer from going to far too soon
Lol! Yes, did it! A gentle 5km plod in the rain! glorious!
Hoping that I can do it again tomorrow!
Well done Si! I am returning to regular running too (hopefully!)
Do you have any races planned?
Hope you get back out there! What are your plans?
I hope to do general base training before marathon training in the new year.
I also need to enter some races! I have entered the Reading half which I did last year. Hope to do 60 minutes tomorrow!
Good luck.
No parkruns as such nearby, but some nice routes. Just need to be able to go far enough to do them now!
Another 5k done this morning. Things I've noticed from running before a) I'm quite a bit heavier (which I knew) but boy does it make it hard work! and b) I'm SLOOOOOW!
I managed 60 minutes very gentle running at lunchtime.
Yoga tomorrow and the either parkrun or threadmill session at the weekend.
When's your next run?
I just keep remembering back to the good old days! I'm sure it was easy then...!
Well done on the hour! I think Ill try again tomorrow for another plod. Legs aching quite a bit at the moment though!
Perhaps run alternate days? Give your body time to recover? I keep thinking back to when I was fitter too!
I am aiming to run 3/4 times a week until January.
It is satisfying isnt it! Yeah, I think alternate days will be best. Unfortunately its going to be difficult for me to run tomorrow and Sunday (excuses, I know!) so will do today, probably another 5k and then rest until Monday.
Whats your marathon date?
Ps. Im really just posting this to look back on in another 4 years!
Keep running!
Simon
