Good luck LFR and madbee - I'll be in the red start, still have not decided what to wear - probably a white top and multicoloured spotted three quarter length leggings, but maybe just some black shorts and a mottled red top.
This morning I failed at working the cooker so had to make my porridge in the a microwave, never done that before so also had to clean the microwave. The sheer number of things I have already changed on race day almost guarantees shit-ness.
Haven't been on here for a while just been lurking as not much to report, just wanted to say best of luck to you guys running today, you go and smash it
Something to listen to while you bite your nails: an interview with Kathrine Switzer, who entered Boston Marathon in 1967 (then open only to men - she entered as 'K V Switzer') and got banned from the US athletic association, or whatever it was called, for four offences including 'running without a chaperone'.
Bet you those guys in that photo are ashamed of themselves now. They should be. Nice diversionary tactics marrows
It's mad to think that women were only 'legally' allowed to race since the 1984 Olympics. What with them only being able to run 1.5 miles at a time and all...
From the Edinburgh marathon website: "All your personal data and information, including your running times, are treated with great respect. As such your result information is exclusively available to you within your My Details account after you have completed the race. We will only openly publish the top 3 finishers of each race. You will need to log in to your My Details account to get your times, splits and finishing position within the race. You can then choose to share this information as you see fit. They are your results and times."
I've never heard of this policy in any other race!
Go Madbee, you old sandbagger you - well done. All your meticulous (Rocky style woodcutting etc) preparation paid off. Enjoy some well earned hydration .
I hope that ladyfunrun and icklemichael had a good day.
Brilliant time madbee, congratulations!!! I'll be looking for tips for Brighton next year. Do you think the pimple on the bum helped?
Well done icklemichael, another great result and glad you were mostly successful with enjoying it
C'mon LFR... spill the beans!
Looking forward to the reports. I've got a day off work tomorrow (which I expect I'll need to have time to read madbee's report - any chance of an audiobook version? ).
Westy it's held up brilliantly. It didn't trouble me once during the race. I had other foot related issues - stopped 3 times to take off my right shoe, had really bad burning under the balls of my feet. I thought it must be the socks, but there was no bunching, seams or anything. Strange.
and so the thread brilliance continues!! Well done to the final three. Looking forward to your reports, but enjoy your rehydration and non carbo loading influenced food before hand

Hope it's going well for the final crew.
The weather mightn't actually be too bad in Edinburgh according to BBC Weather. Which has been known to be spectacularly wrong at times
Either way, they're in the thick of it now, COME ON!!

Nice one Madbee. Well done! (what was your original goal btw?). Is that a GFA time?

The weather was varied! IM that's a great time, good work.
Heading for the train, looking forward to some grub & a sit down. Report to follow when normal service is resumed.
