Briliant photos Madbee. I have only ever sported a grimace in my marathon photos.

Icklemichael, I find the heat affects me in the poop department. Get too hot = need to poo. There seems to be no correlation with food/gels (for me anyway). I think in some people it's just their body's way of coping with the stress it is put under when excercising.

I seem to have more stomach issues when running in the heat too.

    Great pics, madbee image

You inspired me to change my forum page to a silly Boston one image. Too bad there's a semi naked man running behind me image

Will try and pop in on the autumn thread every now and again. Are we on to our favorite topic over there yet ??

Not yet chick, but give it time..........

We're only on page 6 and already Wenty has changed his name, Madbee's been sandbagging (and has already 'done a Wenty'), we've all complained about the fact that summer weather (be it cold or hot) is rubbish to run in, and andrews148 has set up an online trinket shop.

    All textbook stuff.

i might just pretend I am following p and d for an autumn marathon and pull out last minute injured. I feel like im missing out on the chat!

    Which marathon DT?

  • Options
    DT19DT19 ✭✭✭

which marathon should i pretend im runninng???

Nottingham would be the obvious choice as im doing the half anyway so i could pretend i wasnt feeling great and switched events last minute!

  • Options
    15West15West ✭✭✭

Nottingham?! Not much of an imagination there. How about New York or Berlin?

Anyway, whatever you decide...I won't tell anyone....

  • Options
    DT19DT19 ✭✭✭

Its not overly interesting, however its that close to the truth that it falls more into the category of a fib as opposed full on deception!

Borneo would be a good one.  But take care to pretend to take plenty of precautions against heat stroke.

There are a number of complications the more fantastic the event you pretend to enter. The more lies you tell the more likely you contradict yourself and are rumbled. I work on the K.I.S.S philosophy as far as I can in life.

And me - I'm, ahem, *running* the Yorkshire marathon this autumn (interprets as 'handing out drinks') image

Busted DT. Hop on over anyway though!

(Fergster I was so not sandbagging. I deliberately corrected the unambitious target wenturtortiterrapin is the sandbagger over there!)

I just thought I'd register my gratitude for all the contributors to this thread before I head over to the autumn one.  One P&D attempt, one PB. image

I've done more reading than typing but it's been a blast.

Only kidding Madbee, I took your 6 second improvement literally image

  • Options

DT pretend you are doing marathon des sables, then found out you are allergic to sand!

Hey Madbee - no bagging going on here! Fergy has already made me drop my realistic goal down 5 minutes. Now I have another target i will miss!

I think DT should pretend to be running the Snowdonia Marathon. It's late in the year end of October so can keep the excuses going until everyone else finishes, and then just get that unfortunate last minute injury. with Nottingham being the tune up half image

  • Options
    15West15West ✭✭✭

that sounds like a good plan. Infact DT you could just pretend you ran it, got an ok time of 2.28 or something. Infact I might start pretending too.

Reps today for me managed 18 x 1miles at 5.30 pace off 15 sec recoveries - legs are a bit tired now though

    DT19DT19 ✭✭✭

There are too many high quality stalkers on this forum for me to even attempt to carry the lie that far!!

    Men, 18 x 1 mile?? That's a helluva workout!

4 steady trailish miles for me last night, took a while to get going but I enjoyed it in the end,  the miles will be hitting double digits again this weekend.

Do you have to have completed mesocycle 5 before you're allowed onto the Autumn P&D thread? image

I haven't Dr D! But I'm not a fan of rules so I may be wrong in being there...

I might start my own special thread for smug bastards.

I thought this was the thread for smug bastards.

    Men - that's a joke, right?!?

     - Edit - "pretending"

I'm just jogging round like a jogging thing at the moment. Running about 55-60mi this week. Getting a lot of flies in my gob or in my eyes. Fun it is.

Aren't we supposed to be on the new thread?!?
