  • Good luck!

  • Ah but will you write more than 160 characters?

  • Excellent Idea Mon image

Have you thought of finding someone you can mentor by letter, that could be an interesting experience?

What if we need you urgently, where are the stables for the courier to change horsesimage

  • Talking of couriers, how about on the 365th day at midnight we arrange a forum leg powered relay and see how far we can get a letter to travel image

  • I wonder what the point of it is? Use social media or don't. It's your choice. 365 days? I went 40 years without using it.

  • Wise words NLR.

Oh no, hang on....EVERYONE went without using it before it was actually available for use, obviously.

I miss getting letters.  My sister and I used to write to each other when she left to go to Uni.  She was only 3 miles up the road, but getting a letter in the post is great.  Good luck with it Mon image

  • Going back further, I've decided to employ a runner to take verbal messages between me and my friends. Any applicants from here?

  • Social media makes it easier to get laid. In fact that was it's original use.

  • Will you still have email?

  • you writing a book about the experience?

    or blogging about it?

  • Don't be silly skotty - she's keeping a diary!

With a little lock on it and everything! image

Is that the voice of experience speaking? image

  • What's next, a year without electricity or gas? how about a year without toilet paper.

  • On the plus side Mon, you'll have a year without morons. image

  • Out of interest - what made you want to try or go 365 days without social media? And what do you count as social media? Facebook/twitter/forums?

I don't think there's any guarantee of that. I come across them every day on the Underground.

  • Sometimes - or at least close relatives...

  • Pennycomequick? Gotta be Plymuffimage

  • That's really interesting. Even has its own wikipedia entry!

  • now Mon - im real disappointed, i thought with your work you would communicate with smoke signals

see ya in about 370 days then - much too lazy to put pen to paper image

any racing planned for next year?

  • KK, I was at Plymuff too..... 86 to 91, so prob well before you!

didn't venture into the badlands of PennyComeQuick though..... strictly Mutley Plain and St Judes..... image

lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday

Exactly, you have made my point, we don't need it. aNd I think to receive a letter is a lovely thing.

  • I will keep my email for work purposes, but Facebook, RW and tri talk are going. I am keeping the telephone. I don't have gas anyway, not giving up electricity, and have been known to wipe my arse with grass or snow when the need arises.

Dave thinks I won't be able to do it, which is enough of a gauntlet to make sure I do.

  • So you are spending a year without social media to prove that you don't need it. Something we all already know?
