With all this vote touting, I should probably actually talk about the running! I went out for just under a 5 miler. It was one of those nights when I told myself just one mile as I wasn't in the mood, but of course, it's never just one and it turned out to be one of those lovely cold crisp nights.
I have to say that being on this forum definitely heped in the motivation to get out the door. I can see that getting through would really help my marathon motivation.
While I am obessively checking my vote count (way behind - boo), I'm having a lot of fun lurking around the forum.
I've always been a big magazine reader for tips and inspiration but the sheer wealth of knowledge and threads on here is staggering. It's a little intimidating TBH, especially at the thought of jumping into threads that have been going for years.
Hi Maxs Mum, I'm running Bath half so far in March and I may run the Bath Skyline 10k next Sun if I get no further in this comp and miss a day or freebies in London! I also plan to run the Paris marathon anyway.
I am a BAD member, yup! I have been to a few of their swim sessions but I find even the slow group way too competitive and fast for me. Have been having lessons with the hope of being able to keep up in the new year!
Ruffles i have a couple of 10k's booked but all the big stuff seems to be in the second half of the year!
a running buddy of mine and i were talking about it last night and we thought we could enter the Paris marathon anyway, either that or the North Dorset Village Marathon in May
Looks to a lovely sunny and cool weekend, perfect for running! I think I'm out tomorrow night so a bit of exercise and fresh air won't make me feel so guilty about the impending hangover on Sunday!
I'm feeling pretty ruthless about my attempts to edge out the competition in this vote but trying to get retweets anywhere I can. I'm starting to realise the power of twitter. I'm way behind and need to garner votes wherever I can.
Right, i've had a cup of tea and a cinnamon bagel. I need to step away from the computer and get my Lycra on. we'll see if Hugo is interested, he's been very slack of late!
Chuffed with my run this morning, 6 miles in 50 mins. it was one where I felt a lot slower so was pleased to see the garmin results at the end (I don't check while I'm out on the run). As ever I find the first couple of miles tough but felt better when I got going. Nice to see lots of runners out, caught some checking my bootcamp t shirt! I still feel lucky to have it!
I have had to take a break from campaigning to strip wallpaper in our new house. Welcome distraction, especially as I am out of ideas to gain 400 votes by Tuesday to catch my competitor, grrrr
I'm really glad that voting is nearly over. I am chuffed to have got as many as I have (983 at last count) and a little sad that I haven't beated Mr Carroll but having met him at Bootcamp and finding him to be a thoroughly decent chap, I can't be too disappointed.
It's been an interesting and distracting week but fun in that it has definitely kick started my ambition to run Paris in 2014 competition or not. I just need to find myself a training plan that also allows me time to swim and bike. If I find one soon it may strengthen my resolve not to drown myself in wine and mince pies over the next couple of weeks. But then maybe not! Although I have promised myself an xmas day run along the seafront in Weymouth where my mum lives before the celebrations begin. If i'm lucky, I'll catch the nutters doing their xmas day swim!
This is a lonely little thread. I was hoping id be pumped for info on why I deserve to win but nada.
oh well, after midday tomorrow I'll have to ditch this thread and find a new home unless by some miracle I get a late surge and win this thing. any takers for a challenge?
Its not over until the announce the winners.........they might go through and decide that there were too many votes form someone from 1 IP address or that 99% of the votes were from people who didn't even sign in and so have no chance of ever interacting ..
Sophie I'm a bigger loser.......I have entered each year and been rejected in the first stage.never got near a bootcamp even.never had a whiff of a pair of asics
Seren nos, boo for you. I can't imagine the sour grapes that there will be if the winners of the votes don't get through but I'm secretly hoping the same thing, so am plugging away!
With 30 mins of voting left and me unlikely to win. I just want to send a big thanks out to the forum to everyone who has taken the time to follow the comp and support the finalists. I'm chuffed by the amount of votes I've generated and the amount of time people have taken to interact and support their fellow runners. What a great community.

This comp is getting to me, normally I have a couple of snoozes before I'm ready to get up but the last few days have seen me awake before the alarm.
Mainly to check my votes. I'm nearly 300 behind so it's not looking good, but it's not over yet!
I still need your click ! http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/target262/sub-400-finalists.aspx

I'm clearly alone on this thread. Oh well.

How about you?
So Ruffles you're a triathlete in Bristol, does that mean you're a BAD person?

Looks like it might go right to the wire in your category!
I've spent far too much time on my phone and computer this last week!
Me too, it's looking pretty tight in yours! Good luck! I think James has clinched ours!

The thing I like about Sophie is shes not easily 'ruffled'.

I knew I wasn't going to make it but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who voted.
