Hi
I am doing the Edinburgh Marathon in May, and looking for some good half suggestions in March and April. Road races preferable, can travel.
I've found a few possibilities by searching around, but would value suggestions from other runners.
Thanks for your time.

Reading? Stadium finish. Huge crowd.
agree Mr I - but then I'm biased!
Whys that andy? Youre not a Lower Earley man are you? Or more of a Sonning (that constitutes posh in Reading land) man?
Depends where you live. Inverness and Garioch in March, there is a 15m at Balmoral in April if you are in the north east of Scotland.
Half Marathon at Silverstone March 2nd.
Wilmslow 23/03 if you're looking for fast and flat with good quality
Liverpool is around that time too and will probably be a bigger field if you are looking for more of a fun run
Haweswater Half in early March will be lovelyy and scenic but not a PB course
Or even Paris?
You need to be clearer about where in the country and what it is you are looking for from the HM.
I'm not posh me Mr I - born in Coley, but now live just outside town in Aldermaston...
BTW- I have two places for the Silverstne HM available on 2 March. I booked them as a warm up for the Reading event for me and my son, only to find Redaing was the same day! D'oh!
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll go check them all out.
If you're happy to travel to SE England, the Paddock Wood (Kent) half is a good one.
15-03-14 : Spring Shakespeare HM, Stratford-upon-Avon

Great course, great venue. 4 laps of a motor racing track, so some say it's a bit boring, but it depends what you want out of your race and if you're prepared to forsake a nice view in favour of a good time!
I would also mention Oxfordshire's White Horse HM, but that's already sold out for 06-04-14! Need to get in early.
Thanks Wilkie / Shazza!
I'm with Wilkie, Paddock Wood Half run by my club PWAC is excellent. Superbly organised, fairly flat course & my kids hand out jelly babies to all runners at the 11 mile mark. Entries now open btw!
Bath Half on March 2nd. a two lap course with loads of supporters all the way round. Great atmosphere
Sheffield half on April 6th. Can't tell you much about it though as just moved up from Berkshire.
Cheers Alan, entered Valiants, looks like PB territory....
Wokingham in Feb, Surrey/Reading/Hastings/Fleet/Brooklands in March, Bracknell in April. Also Inverness, Liverpool - you are spoilt for choice!
One of the things that really stands out for me at PW is that they get LOADS of portaloos in. You never have to wait more than a couple of minutes
Other race organisers should take note!
Snowdonia half in April - very well organised and great race atmosphere, although not for PB chasers - it's got to be one of (if not the) toughest road half marathons - stunning scenery though!
