this programme pisses me off more every year. A guy who wins endless races sitting on the back off certain winners in a sport based on gambling got more votes than a TdF winner and a double Gold medalist.
I think it just shows which sports are the focus of most of the public's attention in non-Olympic years.
I don't follow rugby that closely so while I'm aware that Leigh Halfpenny is a good player I'm slightly surprised he came second (maybe I shouldn't be).
And I'm always surprised to see jockeys do so well but that's probably because I have no interest in horse racing.
Chris Froome coming sixth - I'd have thought it was odd but there you go...the second Brit to win the TDF was never going to be as famous as the first one.
If Mo has a good performance at the London marathon he may be in with a chance next year. It's the only event that the majority of the public seem to be interested in.
The top three for outstanding achievements were clearly Murray, Farah and Froome. Clearly. I would, though have voted for Froome or Farah because I love endurance sports. I guess that equally fans of horse racing and rugby voted for their sports too. If you won a few quid on Mc Coy that week then maybe that was enough to get him a vote. The trouble is that a dumb TV audience votes for the winner. What else should we expect?

How many votes did you cast then?
I agree with the choice of Murray.
Froome won the tour with an already dominant team Sky and was the favourite from the start. If Wiggo hadn't have won it last year he'd have been a cert.
Mo just did what he does best and wins - but he did the double at the Olympics and unfortunately many don't see the "Double double" as that impressive it seems. He had a better chance last year but last year was a magnificent sporting year and too close to call.
Murray finally won a title that the british public have wanted a british person to win for 70 odd years. I'm pleased for him and think he's a worthy winner.
Farah's probably the greatest sporting achievement - it's a fairly mainstream sport and he's won the top honours and repeated the feat. I just wonder if maybe his character doesn't chime with the British public as much as Murray's because I'd have thought he'd have been in the top 3 and closer to Murray's vote than he was.
Wimbledon champion was always going to take some beating though - it's was a bit of a national sporting quest to find a male Wimbledon winner in the modern era.
Froome I think suffers from there being some question as to how British he is. Yes he's got a passport but he didn't grow up here, doesn't live here and doesn't spend a great deal of time here.
As much as Mo's double-double was an incredible achievement, I don't think the World champs athletics was a big enough event to put him right up there on the popularity radar with Murray's long-awaited Brit Wimbledon victory.
I predict a SPOTY award for Mo, not next year, but in 2015 when he's cracked the London Marathon at his second attempt.
Mo Farah isn't as popular as everyone thinks he is. There seems to be quite a large contingent of people that don't consider him to be British and hate him because he's a Muslim.
The were out in force on the Standard's website a few weeks ago. It wasn't nice.

What's the link?
Edited. Found the link but says you can only vote once it has been declared open on the live show. Has it?
Mrs Puffy just registered, if she can do it...
no, i turned off after 10 mins. couldnae stomach it.
Not got it on - result is a bit obvious this year. I'm watching Jamie Oliver making gravy instead...
Lou Reed is on at 9 so they can bugger off. Really boring so far.
Have voted but think it's only just opened. Not watching programme as don't have a tv
PS Go Mo!
yes, it has only just opened - and it's dead easy to do...
Voted for Mo
What was the point in voting. The trophy was already in Miami.

I voted for Mo too, online, as texting didn't work.
How come Andy M is on screen, and Mo wasn't beamed?
How come the trophy is already next to Andy in Miami, and there's no trophy seen in Leeds or where Mo is??
Snap, Sussex Grinch!

I guess the late voting was so that people didn't have time for multiple voting.
Not that anyone has the chance to multiple vote, as my text was 'sending' for the whole hour, and never went through in the end! That's 15p saved
voted for Murray.
he is my hero for how little he could give a shit.
I hope Mo feels the same. Do agree with those that feel he was hard done by for not making the podium again.

Mattywarr(what is it good for) Murray, as I said was one of the 3 worthy winners. I didn't vote because there was a Lou Reed documentary on BBC4.
Huh. Good god, y'all.
Aside from my sarcasm the rest of the post was more generic, not questioning your choices - merely explaining my own.
