How's it going? Are still managing with more miles? That's great that you had no nausea on your 21 miles. Do you think this is with a change of diet or because you're running a bit slower?
The no sugar diet is getting a lot of press and I keep meaning to read more about it - I always just seem to pick up the tail end of things. Do you still eat things like fruit that contain natural sugar?
Hi mini amazingly I seem to be coping well with the increased mileage. Maybe because I am not cycling or swimming as much. The low sugar diet I think has helped and also running slower on my longer runs has also helped so I will stick with it. I eat very little fruit now which I miss. It has made me more creative in the kitchen though.
Hi Doppy, glad the trainings going well. As it's a recovery week this week and you are down to 50 miles, how many times do you plan to run and are you keeping up the intensity in the faster stuff? Have you got any plans you could post up here. I'm a bit nosy and like to see peeps training
Also have you lost any weight with this new diet? I seem to have dropped a kilo a long the way in the last couple of weeks (not intentionally though!)
How far out from your race are you now? I know it's earlier than London.
I have dabbled in the less sugar and more fat and it has done wonders with my endurance although some days although I feel like I could cruise all day I seem to have lost a bit from my top speed.
6 weeks on Sunday till race day. Not sure about speed yet although my 800s were not as fast as normal last night but I think I had tired legs from a very hilly 10k Sunday. Strangely my legs are usually agony the day following that 10 k, but this time I had no pain at all. I think my legs are a lot stronger from the increase in miles.
I always think marathon training does make you loose a bit of top speed until about a month after the event. Then I feel like I am flyiing!
Thanks for posting up your week Doppy. I like the 800m reps, long enough to give them a good bash. What sort of recovery were you having in between? I guess in my case, the weight loss has been due to the weight gain at Xmas
I did that 15 miler you've got planned last Saturday with 13.1 @ MP and I'll be honest it started off ok, but by mile 8 it started to get tough. I'm glad I stuck it out though as it was a good mental session as well as physical. Also a good confidence boost too as I ran solo. Do you do most of your runs solo too?
I do most of training at the moment all alone so that I an keep the correct pace. I do try and find some willing sole to join me on the LR to make it less mentally painful.
My 800s were 2.55 ish but felt harder than normal due to tired legs. I took 90secs rec.
I find when I go out running tends to be to fit in with family life, so committing to a specific time frame can be difficult (and to run with others). Hence tonight, I didn't get out to do my 11 miler till 8.45pm as it was my son's 7th birthday and we gad a party etc.
That's partly the reason for my forum name as I used to do most of running late at night. Running past people on the pavement late at night freaks them out, just like the the car when it used to bomb along with no lights on!
I struggle to find company for my long runs too. Sometimes that's OK, especially if you have to hit a certain pace, but I'd prefer company on the slower ones. I've been known to rope someone in for 10 miles and do the rest on my own.
The 800s look promising Doppy, Yassos would have given you much longer recoveries and predicted a 2.55 marathon from that session!
Yep - happy to run together if you like, though I don't drive so would need to meet nearer my end. I'm sometimes also joined by another friend somewhere along the Trent.
Lit/Goth - not sure if you have similar PBs but make sure if it is an easy 20 that pace is governed by the slowest runner in the group not the fastest. Sunday is the day to get it done looking at the advanced weather forecast.
Have you slowed them down Doppy? How are they feeling now? We call it shelling peas on the 3.15 thread and I'm starting to get to that stage now, which is lovely
LRs much slower now which is how I have managed running 6 days a week. wanted to do a half marathon this weekend but none on near me so went out with my ironman training partner yesterday. 15 miles with 13 of them between 6.20 and 6.35 mm. Incorporated some very steep climbs as well. All in all I finished feeling good and probably could have continued for another 5 cool down with my friend but didn't.

You could have just let me win, Speedy.
Nah, that would have ruined the fun. Although I might have been less injured.
recovery week coming up, dropping down to 50 mls. Feeling excited

I am indeed, you?

Shall be out on the bike myself
Slowest runner would be me. But not by that much.
A steady 20 miler planed for tomorrow morning, looks like the weather will be ok early doors.
Lit - I've messaged you on FB.
Doppy, how many 20s have you done? And how many more to go?
Think I've done 4(2 were 21) 3 more to go.
next week 10 slow with 10@ mp, one after that 22 miles slow, last one 20 steady.
