In response to the OP the NHS is not overspent at all. Last year and for every year since 2006/7 it has come in underspent, usually by at least a billion. Patricia Hewitt lost control back in 2005/06 but since then every Health Secretary has kept a tight reign on spending.
Don't you think we could learn from Cuba free NHS and Doctors-who are known to best the be in the world.
Or 'Go Compare' The UK NHS against Sweden NHS known to be the best in europe - and also free.
Cuba the best in the world ? I'll have a pint of what Karen is on..
Sweden's NHS may well be free as ours is, But have you seen the general cost of living in Sweden ? Having worked for a Swedish company and spent time in Sweden I'm glad I don't have to pay when I'm there... £11 for a pint of Guinness, taxi fares so high they all have chip and pin machines.
The company rules for expenses were graded, so much for out of London, So much for in London and anything goes in Stockholm
Cuban doctors are the best in the world. Since when?
Doubts have been expressed by some of the developing countries that they work in that lots of them have credentials that are not up to scratch. They also work for peanuts which doesn't allow local (and possibly better qualified) doctors to compete.
There's also, apparently difficulty in accessing some healthcare and treatments, in Cuba leading to a black market healthcare economy.
No, because a Doctor is simply a professionally trained person who works. If there were Doctors in abundance as per Cuba (5 times the number of doctors per head population than UK) then the pay would be simply be driven lower and the service would be better.
I assume you are well paid given what you do, so I assume you'd be OK with your pay being lower too?

Yes I'm fine with competition, I keep ahead of the rest of the profession by constant training, I would welcome more in my field as the Country needs them, and it would bring the wages down for the many.
Damn decent of you to be so generous, Any of your wage you feel unjustified please send to me (a badly paid and non elitist project manager)

Ah, right, so what makes you worth your wage is your training and qualifications? How are doctors any different?

Hardly a model for the NHS to aspire to.
Err Cos Cuba is held up to be the last great Communist country ?
Ah, I hadn't realised that Doctors in the UK were elitist...
Must be the sort of doctors you mix with...
I assume you are well paid given what you do, so I assume you'd be OK with your pay being lower too?
Come the revolution and all that
I thought Acapulco was in Mexico ?
I changed planes in Puerto Rico once, does that count too?
I changed trains at Doncaster once....

Perhaps he is a Doctor ?
That's not what he told me.
Well, not until afterwards.
Should never trust a Doctor, over trained, over paid and elitist !!!
🙂
Bit like hard work eh Nick ?
