  • I have a bottle of it in the kitchen.

    Yum Yum.

  • I live in London and there's a bottle in my larder.

  • I'm familiar with Henderson's but it's not a patch on Lea & Perrins.

  • Is there really nothing more important going on in Sheffield??

  • The Hare and Billet in Blackheath is a fine pub.  Always a good choice of ales on tap.

That is a very poorly edited article.

I've never heard of Henderson's but I'll keep my eye out.  (Probably next time I'm in the Hare & Billet.)

  • Clueless Southern numpty.

    Love Henderson's. image

EDIT: Aimed at the fat MP - not Mr Pub!

The only other important thing in Sheffield is football - and the less said about that the better image

I understand the abbreviation is "Relish" though - not "Henderson's."

  • Well, we also have plenty of roadworks and highway repairs to contend with when we run/walk down the pavements. Not sure where they got the money from to do all this, maybe they will be expanding the Hendo's factory when they've finished with the roads

  • Bob - image I'll let you off.  You know how cosmopolitan my taste buds are.  (Took me a while to come round to black pudding, mind.)

Screamy - Surely Sheffield is one of the most important cities in the world.  It's where they make steel, what you make cutlery out of, what you use to put food in your gob.  All hail Sheffield!

  • Nobody up there talks about the cutlery Phil image

Actually I can't remember the last time I had a decent conversation about forks...

  • Actually Screamy, just last night my good lady and I were discussing the pros and cons of eating certain food items using a fork or a spoon...

  • Damn, wish I'd been there! image

  • It did get rather heated at one stage until I had to explain to her that eating soup (with Hendo's of course)  with a fork would take longer than using a spoon !

  • You made a very fair point. I hope chopsticks didn't come into the conversation.

  • I am ashamed to admit that I have never heard of Henderson's Relish (I am a clueless southern numpty). But I notice that it is suitable for vegetarians. Can anyone put their Yorkshire patriotism aside and tell me if it really is similar to Worcestershire sauce? If so it'd be really handy when cooking for veggies.

  • Some of the other discussions we have got planned are:

    • Cutlery - plastic v steel
    • Chopsticks v fingers
    • Fork on the left or right side of the place mat
    • How do you position your cutlery on the plate when you have finished eating
    • Cutlery for multi-course meals
    • Hand was or dish wash steel cutlery

I cant wait to get home tonight

image Around these parts there are very few things more inportant than Henderson's It explain's why the roads around here are so sh*t.

I just found the whole story very funny it's the quote at the bottem

“I don’t know how a bottle ended up in a pub in London. I’m ordering an internal investigation to find out how it got out of Yorkshire!”

    Literatin

It's similar to Worcestershire sauce but not as sharp and generally milder. Hard to get hold off other than around the peak's and south yorkshire but if you try there web site you might get some, if you know someone from around here who's moved chances are they will have some hidden in there kitchen, I post bottles to a mate in new zealand every other year.

Failing that if you spot your doing a race your at shout up on the thread and will try to bring a bottle with me. Where down south are you?

  • Thanks Cake! Although I'm a pansy southerner who doesn't know about the one true relish, I'm not currently down south. I'm in Nottingham, which is not a million miles away, so might stand a chance of getting some?

  • You should be able to get it there mate It's near enough the boarder. If not will be there for outlaw this year and will bring some anyway for chip's. image

  • I live in Sheffield but work in Nottingham. Any orders for anyone ??

  • Haha, thanks both. I'll look in a shop first and get back to you if I can't find it!

  • image As a side note carter just realised do you know about this? http://www.cyclelivenottingham.co.uk/

Just throught on they have nice medel's.

  • Do you need a passport to get into Yorkshire, and should I leave flammable objects at home?

  • Just bring a translation book with you you should be fine. Something warm might help.

  • Phil - no need to bring your own, you will be provided with all the flammable and sharp objects you need when crossing the border into Yorkshire...

  • Are you going for the Omnium Cake ?
