Why: need to sign up for a marathon today, it's in 6 weeks so want to see where I'm at

    Last hard: Wednesday

Last rest: yesterday I guess, though was on my feet a lot

    Lyrics: nope

Have fun with the longer run Pammie

Morning Pammie. image  Early run today as I have a few work things on at school later. Hope to get at least 16 miles in this morning.

I know the lyrics, lovely song!

  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - If I Should Fall Behind by Bruce Springsteen.

Thanks for the thread start Pammie. Good luck with that longer run.

    Take it easy emzap.

    Enjoy Donaldo.

That was very good of you Blisters. Have you tired a different pair of bike shorts? I find that can make a lot of difference to comfort levels.

    What:               LSR
    Why:                VLM looming
Last hard:        don't really do hard
    Last rest:         19/2

    Lyrics - yes.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • DonaldoDonaldo ✭✭✭

Emzap and LMH, enjoy those long runs!  17.3 for me today in a little over 2hrs21mins.  Legs very tired and course very hilly - didn't really enjoy it today but at least it's more miles in the bank! image

  • What: probably not a lot

why: blowing a gale. Ran yesterday and will run again tomorrow. LK 7 days.

    last hard: 13 days ago

    last "rest" Friday

    lyrics no

    that's keen donaldo

    Morning!

What: 5.2k, effectively a fartlek, off road
Why: couldn't slow down...and then wind slowed me down/repeat several times.

    Lyrics: no

L60 texted me to say she can't put her weight on her foot today following yesterday's incident. Swollen/going black and blue etc. Will go and see her later before driving to mum's in the East Midlans, waving to LMH on the way by of course.

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Sounds as though an x-ray will be required Alehouse. Would be nice to see you one day on your way past image

    Nice early miles Donaldo.

24 for me today, just one of those Forrest Gump days, weather was beautiful, first time in shorts and t-shirt for ages with the wind only just beginning to pick up near the end. It will be an easy day tomorrow as work has taken my turbo time so just a swim.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • What 21.5

    Why LSR

    Lyrics no

Seemed to have lost a week to the black dog again, though looking back over the last two years it's happened before, not sure why.

Anyway, jumped back in with an LSR but without any mp miles as I doubt the legs would cope at the moment. Not sure of my VLM target now, may just plod around for the atmosphere.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

OMG, ale, that's horrible. Hugs to your running partner!!

LMH: mega distance image you are on a roll image

    Excellent parkrunning, Don.

    Hope things come together, postie.

20 with 14@MP today. No Forest Gump run moment, I'm afraid. Miserable, wet, windy, slow and shit sums it up. Ouch. Wind was so bad it blew us backwards at times. I'd chosen the race again that I'd used before because out where I live the winds are unbearable. Well, it wasn't much better at the race venue. No markers.... they had all been blown away. As it had been raining heavily all night and most of the morning, the off-roady bits were very muddy and I ended up looking like a swamp thingimage Anyway, enough whingeing. 20 miles banked with 14@ something resembling MP. On a positive: I was first lady. Sadly no bling. Bling is reserved for those that did all five races of the series. And zero pain from back and calf. One less thing to worry about.

That's another 70 mile week banked image

Boston waves are up image. wave 2, race no. 13636. All getting very real now...

    what: see above

why: because I'm a leetle insane

last hard: today (I was overtaken by random drinks cups each time I passed the drinks table...they were flying everywhere)

    last rest: Monday

lyrics: yes. Somehow I picture OH doing thatimage
  • Got me curious. Yep done that although usually prepared!

  • L60 injury more likely to be ligamentous if swelling and failure to weight bear came on later. Not good news though ...image

  • emzapemzap ✭✭✭

I think I now have the lyrics image

20 and a bit miles done.  I got lost on the way back to the car, so the "bit"!

Half marathon felt really easy.  I did the 2:30 pace which was run at 2:20, but still felt very easy, which is good seeing as I'm aiming for 1:50, but it was on a very hilly course which today was also windy.  Felt good to have a police escort for my long run though image

Knee feeling a bit sore now and I don't know why...may need to get the dreaded foam roller out...

Some good long runs there Chick, Postie, LMH, Don.

  • Afternoon all,

Some serious mileage/long runs being logged.  Now I'll bring things back to earth...

    • What:  9ish
    • Why:  it's such a beautiful day
    • Last Hard:  Friday
    • Last Rest:  Saturday

    Have a good one!

  • Pammie*Pammie* ✭✭✭

    Nice work Chicka

    What: 5hrs on the bike

    Why: base work

Last hard: yesterday with a huge course PB

    Last rest: Sunday 16th Feb

    Lyrics: No
  • Good running chickadee. You should smash that 3.15 if you stay well and uninjured.

    Good training emzap.

Hope you're back on track postie.

    Exploring Pammie?

It was the weather for it Gobi.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Pammie*Pammie* ✭✭✭

LMH A little  bit  like  that image

  • chickstachicksta ✭✭✭
gawd no, LMH. I'm not in 3:15 shape, what with the training I lost in September/October when my disc slipped. I'm hoping to break 3:20, but Boston is not an easy course. The hills come late in the race when you really don't want them!!
  • RFJRFJ ✭✭✭

very Jealous of all these mile being posted, well done all.

Nothing here as resting my calf, hoefully will be seeing sports theripist on Monday or Tuesday to see how bad it is.... at least I can walk on in now more thatn what I could last night without being in pain.....

Atleast was given the happyness of a Fulham win....

  • We'll see chicka image

    Hope you're soon 100% RFJ.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Pammie:  Wish I had a large bird for company on my runs image

  • DustinDustin ✭✭✭

    Hiya,
Ale - hope your running buddy is soon back in top form
RFJ - bugger with the injuries but congrats on the awards. Can't believe you went with that bunch down the road as your new clubimage
Excellent long runs logged - postie, Chicka, Emz, LmH & Don. Slightly envious.
Like AF I'll add a more measured tone:
    what - 5.5 miles on lanes/fields.
why - eldest had double county hockey fixture against Sussex and Kent. Had hour window pre kick off, so took the opportunity to explore new ground. Apparently some of the route forms part of the Barns Green Half if anybody has done that one.
    last rest - Wednesday
    last hard - ages ago

Enjoy whats left of the weekend

  • Pammie: I had to Google the lyrics. You are closer than you imagine.
On Thursday night I went to a Scuba diving session, and after I’d used up my tank of air and the pool had quietened down, I put in 400m. Why not? That was an 8-10pm session.
Sunday night is coached training: 6-7pm. Again, it went well. I chose not to lead the lane 4 set, but was nipping the ankles of the leader. I slightly over exerted myself last week, and needed to be a bit careful.
Other than that, I had a ship load of jobs, and got most of them done.

LMH: Yes, you are right about the padded shorts. I deliberately spent a little more on the next grade up of winter bib longs. They are more comfy, but now the sun has come out! The price of that stuff!

Postie: you are going to be fine with a bit of a taper. Set out your A, B and C targets.

A great weekend for long runs: I’m dead jealous of you all.
And now I go to bed having witness Liverpool humiliate Everton United. Fergie must be spitting fire and kicking cats when he leaves the stands.
