  • Hi Fergy - put me down for a 3:29. Was tempted to put 3:24 but dont want to be over ambitious again.

  • FergFerg ✭✭✭

Wenty my old pal, that's just sandbagging and you know it image. You ran 03:19:03 in London with a nasty injury acquired during the race... I'll expect a *** sensible *** revised time by the end of the day image

  • MadbeeMadbee ✭✭✭
Hi gang. I think I will be on it for Chester. Not sure of target just yet, planning not to break my neck but just piggy back off the last lot of training and take at least 6 seconds off my PBimage

Ahem. Wenty. That is shit. What is rule number one of P&D threadsters??
  • Thanks, Fergster. I'm going for sub 3:45.
  • first rule of P&D club is "dont be shit" - Ok Fergy 3:24:59 - but thats pushing it. here are my marathon goals

    Oct 14 Venice 3:24:59 12/45

Dec 14 Portsmouth 3:30 off back of 12/45

    Mar 15 Jerusalem 3:19 P&D pre race 18/55

    Apr 15 Brighton 3:09 "A" Race 18/55

Apr 15 London 3:19 London 18/55 warm down

so you see I'm not sandbagging, just being realistic. This year was the first year I did not smash my goal time. (my goal time smashed me)

  • 15West15West ✭✭✭

I have no idea what my goal is...so...currently going to set it as 2.50. My PB is 2.44.55 and obviously would be good to beat that...but currently feeling a bit cba with pushing myself too much. So there. So - put me down to 2.50 and may revise this up or down later in the summer.

  • MileMarkerMileMarker ✭✭✭

I'm also running York  and hoping to go sub 3 for the first time having used P&D this Spring to come in with a 3.03 at London so in a similar boat to you Fergster.....

15W yes please could you pm the spreadsheet.  Your PB should see you hitting a top 20 finish at York looking at last years results!

I'm not quite at 55-70 fitness yet but I'll use the next few weeks to get up to the desired mileages, I'll also take a few miles of the longer MLR's because of time constraints,

Good luck everybody and Don't be shit!

I'd like to run Jersey on October 5th, but 18 weeks training should start on 1st of June and I don't feel fully recovered from London. Mmm decisions, decisions!

  • StewartCStewartC ✭✭✭

Andrews148, the first few weeks in the schedule are basically base building anyway and I'm in a similar position, I'm just going to up the LR and GA distances over the next three weeks to get me to the required level,

  • FergFerg ✭✭✭

    andrews148, do it, do it!

I'll have to jump in to the plan in week 3/18, so I feel as if I'll be playing catch up too. It would be good to have you on board for an autumn race as I followed your VLM campaign with great interest.

And we need someone who's going to crack the whip around here if Wenty goes native again image

EDIT: Good man StewartC, that's exactly what I wanted to hear! There should be plenty of fitness left in the legs after the work we've all put in so far this year.

  • MileMarkerMileMarker ✭✭✭

Thanks for adding me to the list Fergster; will be following the 18/55-70 with a few tweaks.

  • andrews14d, I am with the above, definitely do Jersey image

Good to see this thread growing now the spring marathons are over, hope to pick up lot of useful advice along the journey.

Hi all been lurking on the spirng thread. Doing dublin following the 18/55. Only done one other marathon and failed image

Hopefully with all the experience on here i can get some tips as in races im usually shit but on this thread i must keep saying dont be shit.. dont be shit...image

MileMarker - I'll be tweaking the plan to add a few extra GA miles (run commute on one day a week) and some more MP in my long runs at the weekend. I averaged 55 miles per week last time out on the 55/70 plan and would like to push that to the early 60's as I feel that I could handle the mileage. What are you planning to change?

Good to have you on board kevin70

Yeah stick with us andrews what about using 12 week schedule?

Obvs jumping into an 18 week schedule on Monday is not going to happen, so I'm thinking I'll do meso 5 then do the 12/55 plan, then I'll step it up to 18/70 for London next year. Sound sensible? PS, Fergster... 3:39 - no sandbagging this timeimage
  • MileMarkerMileMarker ✭✭✭

Likewise Fergster, going to add more mp sections in - aiming to alternate these sections into the mlr 1 week and then the lr the next. I averaged low 60's for London so think should be ok with this but will see as I go....

Week 1 starts in a couple of weeks for me so just ticking along at 45-50  for now...

  • 15West15West ✭✭✭

Andrews - why don't you just keep base building for the next few weeks and then start on the schedule when you're ready...maybe with 15 or 16 weeks to go? I think good just to get used to the mileage again before adding in any speedier stuff.

  • I've volunteered for the Yorkshire Marathon so I can hopefully shout 'Don't be Shit' at all you autumn P&Ders whilst handing out water!

Does that mean I can join this thread?

  • 15West15West ✭✭✭

only if you occasionally do some running...

  • FergFerg ✭✭✭

MileMarker, Madbee, 15West, andrews48 - I'm in week 4 of Mesocycle 5 so am just ramping up the miles again after a really easy last 3 weeks. I definitely feel rested and ready to go, but I'll just scale it up to 45 miles per week over the next two weeks without any speedwork to be safe.

ladyfunrun, you've more than earned your stripes this year!

  • andrews148andrews148 ✭✭✭

I'm sorely tempted, but training through the a school summer holiday whilst working shifts is a major ball-ache.

Screw it - please put me down for Jersey on October 5th. 18/70-85 sub2:50. image You guys.

    Wooooo!!! Go Andrews! image

  • Similarly I am in week 4 of the mesocycle so drastically need to ramp up the mileage, as the schedule for Autumn starts in 3 weeks. Think I will just base build for the next few weeks and feel ready to build up the miles image
