Absolute top bombing HappyChap - well done Nicky. Who said persistence doesn't pay.
Race Report
Firstly it wasn't a race. I left Low Costa Mill and ran, after what seemed like an age, I thought I must have gone a mile, at least a mile, why hasn't the Garmin beeped yet. I looked.
00:00:00 - bugger pressed start.
Another half mile downhill, crosses the main road and the hard work started. About a mile and a half up a 5-7% gradient. Run/Walk. It was lovely summers evening and the run across the wheat field at the top was beautiful with a view across the whole of ryedale. Mostly running but a sore right heel (bugger of a blister as it turns out). Then steadily downhill back towards Pickering. Definitely more running. Into Pickering and along to Keld Head. Took the river footpath rather than the road, too nice an afternoon not to. Legs sore. Quads really hurting, seemed to be suffering from the impact of running. A run/walk combo along the river banks but luckily three footbridge crossings in
And so. Another day of stalking ends. Amazing work out there right from our first finisher Flyaway, to our last Trogs. Commiserations to those DNF'd, come back and get that medal another year.
Special mention to Symes, that has to be one of the bravest performances in Pirate history.
We had a fab day supporting yesterday. Everyone did such a great job.
Symes, I think, is something of a superstar given all he's been through this year.
I'm very proud of Garr for finishing in good time even though he was ever-so-slightly undertrained!!
Flyaway was utterly fierce. Congratulations!!
Missed so many of you lot being there, and I was sad to have not been racing myself... but I do LOVE a day supporting (apart from the worrying I do until everyone is back off the bike).
I had a most lovely day in fabulous Piratey company
Just a quick note from FeFe's sister, obviously superbly Well Done to him but to all you Pirates! You are all phenomenal, you all need an awesome congratulationary whatever tickles your fancies! So in awe and proud I could burst. GO ON YOU PIRATES!

It was a long day at the office.
Currently forcing down brekkie and doing a bit of post match analysis
