In cycling colour matching is one of The major rules. Another rule is to clean the rig and gear after each ride. One can never get out for a ride in muddy stuff. While I am on a running stint I strictly abide by The Rules nonetheless.
Green to green, red to red, blue to blue and so on. Black/grey/white complement and match any colour. No more than one major colour and two complementing ones from these three.
Pity the runners. They don't even shave their legs.
Neatly dressed athletes promote their sport. The unkempt and muddy do otherwise.
Hate to dis-illusion you but not all cyclists shave their legs.... I was at a fairly serious MTB competition on Sunday and could see no evidence of shaving legs and less evidence of "colour matching"
I bought myself a running watch. I went in and said can I have one of those, any colour doesn't matter. The sales man went looking for a boxed one. He said the only ones he had were lime green. I took it. Not until I got home that I realised it was supposedly the womans one. Still got it as it fits. So no I don't care about the look of my kit as long as it fits and doesn't irritate when worn.
Personally not bothered what they look like - they are for running for goes sake. As someone above wrote it's function then price then colour.
If they do match my running clothing (mainly blue) then great but no worries if not.
I do have a spare pair of travelling runners. These are ones I can wear casually on holiday so can travel with just carry on - one pair of shoes for both daytime and runtime wear. Most runners look bloody awful with shorts that aren't 'sports shorts'.
I remember several years ago when in swettieshoppe with my daughter. She rolled her eyes when a lady in the shop said "Yes these are fine but have you got them in a different colour?". Miniwomble must have been all of 10 or 11 but she knew....

Its like living in a bloody fairground
These bad boys will be accompanying me on my 5k on Friday
If you can't settle on a single colour, you could always go for a multi-coloured shoe
I still want to know what shoes the OP got.
This is sort of where I'm at these days. But with the swoosh in black.
You devil worshipping wierdos
boring!
Thats how I like it.
Thanks for the very funny feedback. Seems to be that most have no problem with garish but not seeing much support for sticking with plain and boring.
These arrived this morning. They are a bit racier than I would normally go for.
Good work, DB. I hope those green bits really do glow in the dark.
DB - they are not garish, they look perfectly respectable. now if the black bits were yellow they could be onto something
I'm thinking about Nike Flyknit racer for this autumn. I like the flyknit lunar and these supposedly make for a nice foray into racing flats.
Sadly all the colourways give the impression that the runner is raping parrots with their feet.
After reading this thread I accidentally went online and bought another pair of neon yellow shoes yesterday.
I have a headache.
No!
🙂

Some of us do...

I can add this to my list of reasons to dislike cyclists
and I thought you liked me

the latest thing among international footballers seems to be to have one pink boot and one blue one.

At parkrun yesterday I was asked if I was sure my running shoes were bright enough.
