I'm not sure of any requirements IM make for elevation changes, but I'd have gone further south towards Whittington in the first part and avoided the climb over Cannock Chase at the end, it seems a bit superfluous to me. Dead easy to sit here and say that, less so when you've road closures and 1500 athletes to consider.
Who said a course has to be flat? Hillier the better, for me! That isn't really very lumpy at all.

I'm in and looking at staying in the campsite on Shugborough estate, is anyone else staying there or any thoughts on better accommodation?
I'm also slightly concerned as the wife will be coming with me and the event looks to be well spread out. Does there tend to transport for the spectators at these kind of events?
campsite will be enormous - i think they use a huge field for the scouts . caravan park up on the chase i think. hotels are a few miles away in stafford, rugeley, cannock
ONE pub in staggering distance. another a few miles away towards rugeley at wolseley bridge

A head's up for those pre-registered - the link goes live at 1pm CEST not UK time. That means this is your 5 minute call.

I'm in for Staffs - it'll be my first Ironman event. Not sure what all the fuss is about though as I can do 70.3 meters pretty quickly these days.
