hi ive got a pair of saucony guide 2 shoes which are very much on their last legs and was hoping for some help as to a cheaper alternative. The guide also seems to have been discontinued any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. cheers
The Guide is very much still going strong, it's pretty much our best selling shoe. The current version is here: www.saucony.co.uk/guide7 As for a cheaper alternative, you could look at the Phoenix:
which is similar to the Guide in terms of support but slightly less cushioned.Obviously we're a little biased, so will leave the good people of the forums to give you their opinions!Hope that helps.
I currently run in the Guide 6 (having upgraded from the guide 5) they are fantastic shoes and I really enjoy running in them. I tried the guide 7s and they certainly felt better underfoot, though that may just be due to the age of my 6's. The 7's are next on my shopping list once I save up a few more pennies.
For a cheaper alternative to the guide 7's you may just want to keep an eye out for last seasons model, the 6 or even the 5 - in my opinion both great shoes.
Hope that helps!
I'm running in the Guide 7s at the moment and really like them, switched over from the Triumph 10s which just weren't giving me enough support as I upped mileage.
