Compression socks

I suffer from shin splints and so wear cho pat supports which are amazing in that i get no pain at all, but they make my legs feel heavy and tight and slow me down.

I've been looking into compression socks, but all the descriptions and reviews talk about them in terms of calf support (even those that state they help with shin splints).

I just wondered if anyone with shin splints has tried the socks and have any recommendations?

  • They have strapping around the ankle and below the knee to provide additional support to the shin...but i think thats probably the only difference...oh and apparently a bit tighter....

    Overuse or a technique issue?
  • Not too sure to be honest...my guess would be overuse as my pt always nade sure ny form was correct
  • Compression socks and calf guards can help with shin splints and calf niggles, in my experience.  If it is a regular problem for you, then give them a try.

  • Do you have any recommendations at all ben?
  • Wiggle are currently selling the 2XU ladies compression sock at half price. I have used their calf guards, and got on well with them. I think Karrimor do a compression sock, if you want a really cheap one to test the principle.

  • Thats great, thanks so much
