Hello again. Does anyone know what will be at the drinks stations? Water in cups? Water bottles? Sports drinks etc? Would like to know beforehand if poss. Cheers! Chris
Water , Chris I'd probably carry a small hand bottle , weather can be quite tricky , last year one side of the course would have melted you, the other side was freezing so it's hard to plan for , if I can be of any other help just ask , enjoy
Jabel01 .... it's all a bit lacking of info unfortunately. I'm doing their half marathon on Sunday week and there is very little CURRENT information about that - either on the HBA website (I appreciate there is a lot of general info which has been there for ages but they are still advertising early bird places!) or on their Facebook account - last year there seems to be a lot more updates in terms of entries, when the race packs are issued etc etc.
I found a bit of info on the marathon by trawling back through to last year's updates on Facebook ... not ideal!!
Jabelo and Alan , the website never changes and info seriously lacking until the last minute , saying that there is a telephone number somewhere on the site and I got an extremely informative chap who told me everything, they're a very laid back bunch
Hi, I did the 20 miler round the lakes, found the 6 miles of constant uphill tough and the next 4 miles into head on wind even tougher lol, the second 10 miles was great though. An absolutely beautiful place to run. Finished in 3.18 full of confidence for this marathon(my 1st).... was buzzing all week, how about you?
Hi Rachel. Yeah was good thanks. I found the first long hill ok after some fairly intense hill training in the build up to the race but yeah the wind was a pain. My GPS lost me at one point then put an extra 3km on so for me the last 5 miles was all maths trying to work stuff out for myself! Very annoying. Good race though and was happy to finish 2hrs 58min, 2 mins under my target. This will be my first mara too
hello fellow Marathoners, i will be trying my very best to run 7 min/miles throughout if i can get a pack together of others of similar ability, any1 wanna join me?
Hello Malcs, yes you got it in one, sub 3hr 5m then to be classified as good for age and that's my goal, I wanna keep up 7mm til the last 6 and then go for it and hope to sub 3hrs if the wheels don't fall off, doing 6;50 personally is not my cup of tea, I am crap at maths aswel so round numbers suite me but if we could get a big sub 3hr group together I may re consider (strength in numbers)
Aha! In that case I reckon you should definitely stick to your plan. That GFA will be so worth it!
I'm probably at about 7-7:10 fitness at the moment. However, I want to use this marathon as a sighter for a sub 3 attempt at York in October so I really need to get a feel for 6:50 pace.
If I can't hold it for the full 26 then I'll have that experience to take into the autumn. I already have GFA for next April so I don't need to worry about that.
If you want we could meet each other half way and try 6:55 for the first 10 say and see how that pans out? Something to think about.

Has anyone found a website with full race info on it? The page at http://www.humanbeingactive.org/hba-events/hba-endurance-challenge-series
says "more information coming soon"? TIA

I live about 250m from the course and have done the HM before, so if you need to know anything ask away!
How did anyone doing the Rhayader round the lakes 20 miler yesterday in prep for this get on?

You did do well, good luck for the marathon, ill look at fof u
I did Rhayader too in a pleasing 3:05 considering I'm considerably undertrained. That wind must have added 5-10 minutes to times.
This one will be by 98th marathon, though. Got a 50-miler to think about first, on 4 April.
Keep up the long runs (but don't do them at race pace)!
Hi All, When do the race packs go out?
i picked mine up on the day, but that may have been because i was coming overseas
Out of my league I'm afraid Runner Jonnie, ill be aiming for 8 min/miles.
If anyone wants to get together for a sub 3:30 group though I'd be up for it!
I finally bit the bullet and entered
Jonnie - do you not fancy a stab at sub 3? I'm planning to give 6:50 pace a bash. Not sure if I'll make that all the way but if you never try...
Just wondering why you'd target 7mm pace when sub 3 may be within reach. Are you trying to get a GFA time?
Martin - are you doing this one again?
T-Rex - wow, almost at the 100, that's quite amazing! Do you have a target for time for Llanelli?

So how are we all feeling with the big day nearly upon us?
Hope to bump into a few of you either before, afterwards or even during
I'll have a white NCCA vest on with Malc on the front and back, please do say hello.
Runner Jonnie, we may see each other at the start.
Best of luck. Weather doesn't look too bad. Bit of sunshine but some cloud too and no rain!
Will look out for you Chris!
what a wonderful day you had for it....i loved sitting in the sun eating bacon sarnies cheering you all on.I hope you got your targets
