Hi All,
I have an 64 year old friend who is an accomplished extreme ultra marathon and trail runner. He has a military background and helped many young people in the community and is a positive inspiration.
He is finding it difficult due to his age to find insurance for a extreme cross country race event happening in South Africa very soon.
Can any one recommend insurance companies ?

InsureAndGo do my cover for international ultras, (but I'm only a 44-year-old whippersnapper) - and I can't vouch for how good they are if I need to make a claim.
I'd look for Marathon De Sables insurance companies - I've heard good things about Sutcliffe, might be worth ringing them

That's good to hear GKD, I might look at them when it comes time to renew again.
Had heard some horror stories about Dogtag which put me off, mainly from the winter sports crowd. I guess if you're part of an organised event, carrying the correct kit and complying with the event rules things are a lot simpler.
Thanks I will pass the info on
Really GeeeM? That's such a shame,I really couldn't have asked for better service.I just called them out of courtesy really and they arranged for a taxi back to my hotel from the hospital, made sure I had a doctor on call and bought two extra seats on my flight home so I could keep my leg stretched out, there was a customer services guy waiting for me off my flight who whisked me through customs and baggage control.
All in all I was very impressed
When every other company refused to sell a friend of my mother's travel insurance as he was too aged and decrepit, saga insured him with no bother at all. No idea if they offer insurance for extreme sports, but might be worth a call?
BMC covers people up to the age of 80.
