Are you or do you know a long-standing volunteer at your running club?
For an article for RW, we want to get in touch with the real heroes at the grassroots of running. We are keen to track down those club stalwarts who help keep your running club going in whatever voluntary capacity needs filling.
Is there a long standing club official who deserves a pat on the back? Is there someone who marshals or officiates at all your races in all weather? What about a running coach who gives up their time to coach kids or adults? Maybe you now a run group leader who has helped countless people enjoy running too? If you are one of those people or know someone who might fit the bill, please do contact me at adrian@montimedia.co.uk
I am one of the regular freelance writers for RW and we are very keen to celebrate some of our true heroes of running. I look forward to your suggestions and happy to chat through any of your suggestions.
All the best

it would have to be a suggestion by someone else. the real heroes would never put themselves forward
me, me ,me I volunteer. Did I tell you about all my volunteering that I do/did/ will do .
Feel free to suggest someone you think we should include if they are too shy to put themselves forward. Thanks again, Adrian
There's a lovely lady at our club who makes the most fabulous cakes for us to eat after races......
No, I don't know anyone suitable.
All my club's team managers, coaches and officials are volunteers. As are all those that pitch in to marshall, set up courses, man car parks, sell refreshments, organise race numbers and process results.
I think this is largely true of most clubs.
Sure some volunteer more than others, but then some have more free time than others.
To single one person out would be difficult.
Fab cake today for the men's XC, for runners and volunteers. Agree with Dustin - our club is 100% run (ho ho) by volunteers, we don't have a single paid employee.
I volunteer at parkrun, I volunteer once for every 5 runs I do. Not a huge amount but it helps keep things going. Do you volunteer at your club?
Goodness. The words "mountain" and "molehill" spring to mind,
Reading this thread you just seem to be lookng for an argument - it doesn't really matter who with or what about.
But anyway, you'll have to keep looking, I'm certainly not interested.
Chill out, it's Sunday.
I must be reading a different thread to the one where you just arrived and completely unprompted, made some generalisations (quite rude ones) about people, then got surprised when someone called you out on it.
But anyway, you seethe all you like if that's what you want to do.
BTW though, if what you are trying to call me is "sonny" you've already been told that's not so.
I 've been too busy to post much over the past couple of weeks so I don't have a clue what you've been looking at,
But if you can call me "sonny" as a woman I reckon that gives me the right to call you "bitch" as a man - so I really hope you're ok with that.
Oh I don't think so dear, you're not at all my type
Why do you think I am male?
So are you aren't you sweetypie?
Aw I'm so disappointed, and earlier you wanted me to be your bitch.
I'm sorry, this relationship isn't working. It's not me, it's you...
