Anyone out there pounding the streets/forests of E17?
A few of us have already met through the RW forums, and are meeting up for regular(ish) runs through the more scenic parts of Walthamstow. If anyone fancies joining us, you'd be more than welcome.
I'm aiming for a time close to 4 hours for FLM, whilst others are getting in gear for various 10Ks, 10m, half-marathons etc etc.
Depending on how much we chat, we run around the 9/10 minute mile pace...
Chris
PS We might even consider people from Leyton/Chingford/Highams Park...

maybe we are the only runners in E17....
wot you been up to?
I got up early yesterday and did 7.5 miles round the thames in the city, twas lovely.
check out the woodford green thread, there are a few of us who meet up from around the area for runs. i work in the college and also train on the track with the walthamstow ac crowd.you should join us.i also run for orion harriers in chingford.we do mainly XC races and these are great training for marathon.let us know if you need any info.
i have occasionally lurked in the 'virtual bushes' of the woodford green thread (which seems to be just slightly more popular than this one), and have marvelled at the sheer number of miles that you fellas (and girls) seem to put in...
i'd love to come for a run through the forest with you, and the track sessions sound interesting as well. i used to run past the forest hotel when training for FLM last year, and often thought about joining the orion harriers.
it looks like you are all running much longer distances than me at the moment. this saturday, i've got an 11-12 mile run in the schedule, which will be the furthest so far this year.
i'll drop into the thread and try and work out what your plans are for the coming weeks, and whether we might fit into this...
best
chris
didn't run yesterday as planned, got back late from Brixton and spent the evening writing up my fieldnotes...
planning an eight-mile run today, again through the forest. i'll then do an 11-12 mile run either tomorrow or sunday...
if you're doing an early morning run around this part, let me know and i'll join you...
chris
you'd be very welcome at orion or walthamstow.i'd join walthamstow first as they are crying out for runners and are good souls.orion is great too especially for xc and in the summer it's simply fantastic to head out over the forest in the evening.orion has many different standards in our groups.try our wed evening run at 7.we had a huge group go out last wed.it was a good workout and nice socially.you would'nt be out of place....i'm no speed merchant.
Always happy to shelter a plodding wreck from the harsh Tottenham environment.
How's your running going? Running for fitness, or with an event or particular time in mind?
Chris
Trying to get fit enough to get round the FLM in April having started halfway serious training at the start of the year (lots of gym stuff last year got me up to a certain level of fitness but the road stuff is really taking it out on my body) but finding it a bit tough on my own. Everything hurts.
Would be happy with 4 hrs 30 min (let's face it, I'd be delighted just to get round the course) - any of you slow enough for this?
We do all the long-runs at a slow, slow pace, so you'd be more than welcome to come along. To be honest, although I'd like to complete FLM in around 4 hours, I'm thinking that 4h30m would be be more realistic...
Due to group commitments, the next long run is going to be weekend after next (early feb), and will probably be through walthamstow marshes (so we could meet somewhere along blackhorse road, maybe?). This will be good for the legs, as it's pretty soft all the way round...
If you drop me an email, we can arrange a time/day....
I'm free this weekend.
chris,
how did you get on over the weekend?

ta!
we went out for a long leisurely run on sat morning.i ran for about 1.45 but the others continued.a couple did nearer 2.30 and one finished at around the 2hr.it was nice and the ground was frosty.they are running again on sat.you are most welcome to join in.it's a comfortable pace.
training tonight at walthamstow? be there around 7.30 to warm up.
Just getting my Ato Z out.
bit worried that this might be a bit of a knock-back in terms of running closer to 4 hours than 5, but maybe the week off will freshen me up a little.....
