I'm planning on marshalling this year...I've got a pretty heavy summer without doing this one again. I reckon 10 peaks is enough...although I did do a bonus Corn Du last year.
T Rex Yes / No, want to run it, don't want to run it
Have not entered yet, Have the Welsh1000m fell race this w/e and having just got back from a marathon in France, I have had my thoughts focused else where. If I can get some long back to back runs in July / August will definitely be doing it.
Great - can now see the map but seems to be 'only' 38 miles? One or two unusual bits of route which will be interesting. Does anyone know if it's clockwise or anticlockwise and how many CPs there might be? This info isn't marked.
It's clockwise, think it's just a rough map as they said on fb that it would be updated. I'm sure they will stretch it out to 40,and I'm hoping they will be issuing a newsletter at the weekend. Looking forward to it, hopefully we'll have beautiful sept weather! Need to have a good race on this one as I've just entered my first 100 (Cotswold Century) which is 2 weeks afterwards, so this is kind of a training run now!! See you there!
I have just signed up for my first ultra, the vale ultra. I'm thinking of doing the last 2 trail races of this series to build up some strength and get used to off roading a bit. Mostly race on road with the usual winter XC. Any tips on shoes for these that will be fine for the coastal ultra too? I'm a nike pegasus or vomero guy on the road, love my cushioning.
Round 3 was tough out in the Black Mountains. Some grim weather to start with and whose idea was it to do that waterfall scramble?! I was remarking to another runner that you don't do this in the London marathon!
Really enjoyed it for the most part. After the sun came out on that broad western ridge the scenery was stunning, on so massive a scale it made runners look like insignificant specks. I was chasing two of these for the whole of the second half but never caught them! I just about managed to stay ahead of the army man and his dog who was doing well in his fatigues and boots.
Without the ankle injury I'm nursing at the moment I expect I could have got round in about 9 hours but yesterday it took 10h15.
Great race and friendly atmosphere. With a very small field it got a bit lonely out there but the green waymark signs were always there to comfort.
(Did the 10 Peaks as well the weekend before which took me 22h59.)
It was a great race wasn't it! I think the rain clouds added an extra dimension to the already impressive mountains. Loved going up Sugarloaf as I haven't been up there since school!
I was really please to get round in just under 8 and a half hours and was 2nd lady in. Now just hoping the legs recover quickly as have the Cotswold Way Century in 2 weeks time!!

Looking forward to seeing the route for the Sept round now!
Me too, it's still not up yet though rumoured to include Sugar Loaf.
Message for frenchy - when are the routes going to be posted on the website?
Perhaps we are not going to know until race morning!
Posted on their Facebook page yesterday

Thanks, Geeem. Still can't seem to open the maps. I'll try again in a few days.

Definitely not running the 10 peaks this weekend?
No long runs over 15miles since June, not enough miles or inclination to do it this year.
I wish everyone who runs it all the best.
