Hi noticed my right heel felt tight/tender last week and on pinching my Achilles it was tender. I ran again a further times and it's not got worse but not better. Also noticed that when flexing the ankle up and down a creaky feeling is there. What's the general consensus on running with this mild niggle or to rest up until it clears altogether - and if so how long is this likely to typically take?

If it is a problem with your Achilles I'd suggest not running now is likely to have a better outcome than continuing and risking it developing into full blown tendonopathy or worse which could take 6-12 months to resolve.
No idea how long you need to allow for recovery at this stage though.
