Hiya all
I'm new to this type of thread but I've just joined a long distance walking group near my home in sunny Lancashire. I'm aiming to do a long distance walk every four to six weeks. I'm hoping, ultimately, this will improve my stamina and help my running.
My long term aim is to be able to do the London to Brighton run - that seems very far away at the moment. I've three and a half stone to loose and keep getting sore ankles when I run a lot. My mate sayes if I do some cross training, i.e. walking I should be able to shed some blubber.
Any tips from you knowledgeable persons out there would be welcome.

Im a runner / budding triathlete. Hope to see you around the forum often, there are a really great bunch of people here and you can get advice about anything.
I have previously considered the London To Brighton, its about 55 miles I think, Big Ben to the sea front I believe & usually run around October time?
I may do it this year actually, ive never been fit enough before but if this years plan stays on track I think I should be (though I had to pull up on a 6 mile run today with really bad pains in my achilles).
Catch you around...
I'll definately log onto the ultra thread and thanks for the welcome
