"The Challenge" is an eight part series of hour-long programmes for prime-time BBC2. Each hour-long show will cover an extreme sporting or adventure team event, but to make it really interesting, we will replace one of the original team members with a member of the public.
So, for example, we would put a keen rugby player into a transatlantic yacht race, we'd send a long-distance marathon runner up Mount Everest and we'd ask a cyclist to trek to the North Pole. The programme will cover the requisite training and preparation for the event and ultimately the event itself and the physiological, psychological and emotional impact on the replacement.
We have found contributors for five of the eight events we are covering but we are still looking for sporstmen or women to participate in our transatlantic yacht race, a five day marathon across the Atacama desert in Chile and in a further race to be confirmed.
This is what you have to sign up to:-
filming and training odd weeks and weekends between now and June.
filming for 3 weeks in July - requring someone who is committed and who can be quite flexible.
A high level of fitness.
Confident and lively attitude - requiring someone who enjoys being in front of a camera.
You do not need to have a public profile, in fact an 'up-and-coming' sportsperson would be preferable.

Where did you find the information and more particularly the application form. Is there a web site? I have send this query to the email given in your opening message but if there is more info available I would dearly love to know about it.
Thanks
On a similar note I got sent an entry form for that "SAS - are you tough enough" program. Whilst I like the idea of having a go at it I dont want to be on telly so I didn't apply.
I guess they can only do so much to you but I bet its faaaaar from easy.
"I'm in the Brecons this weekend with a 50lb rucksack full of sand on some
challenge thing which envolves Pen y Fan, Corn Ddu etc. and Army types - should be amusing".
Depends on your definition of amusing, I guess! He must be one of the contestants for this - I think he also tried it last summer - fell runner, former climber / outdoor pursuit instructor - go Dan go!
