I am glad he won and that the neither of the cheating duo got gold. According to Michael Johnson's video analysis it was Gatlin who lost it rather than bolt beating him but I guess that is academic because Bolt won.
Hopefully Bolt will stay injury free and get back to his best so that he can keep Gatlin at bay until they both retire.
As Gatlin just started to look like he was going to pull away, it's as though God reached down and gave him a little jolt on his shoulder,10m from the line. That, or the collective will of billions of people around the world sent him out of balance.
Gatlin didn't look surprised nor upset by the outcome. Maybe he has a conscience after all.
It was a bit strange. The way I read it was that he genuinely thought he'd won, hence the broad smiles and seemed to mouth "Yes,,,, Yes" after the finish line.
And once he realised he had lost, he felt he had to maintain the smile to make it look like he knew all along.
Gatlin would have done himself a favour by not being the typical yappy yank sprinter gobbing it off in our faces after every victory. Some modesty would have helped, but only to limit our ire.
It's pretty well accepted he's still benefiting from the long term effects of those drugs he took.
Quite telling listening to Steve Cram's race commentary. There's the suspicion he wasn't being totally impartial. Nooo, not much!
Ah Daley Thompson.
Actually incredibly modest. The press made much of this image implying he was standing over his rivals as a way of confirming his dominance, whereas he revealed he was standing up because there wasn't room to lie down as well.
I agree Nessie, now all we need is Coe to start taking on the cheats instead of continuing his adopted siege mentality.
Interesting comment from Michael Johnson, he basically said that if Coe is so passionate about protecting the innocent athletes from speculation then he should admit that athletics has a problem and chase the cheats out of the sport. Maybe Johnson should be doing Coe's job.
Bolt beats a doper who is still "benefiting from the effects of steroid abuse". Should that not raise an eyebrow? Just look at the state of Jamaican sprinting and the number of failed tests of late.
But fear not, athletics can't afford Bolt to fail a test now, so any suspicion will be swept under the carpet.

Buzzing. Stick that where the sun don't shine Gatlin!
Thank goodness he beat the cheat.
Justice has been served!!
I also hope Bolt triumphs over Gatlin in the 200m and 4x100m relay, too.

We can only imagine how a fully fit Usain Bolt would have destroyed Gatlin (and the rest of the field).
Roll on Rio 2016.

A good result.

🙂
but fair play, he was the first of the 4 drug cheats in the race to go up and congratulate Bolt
On a different note, Daley Thompson is a legend

Cram has gone up in my estimation too. He may as well have said "stick that in your syringe, you cheat"
Do you mean this Daley Thompson?
..it was the 80's, come on

Give Coe a chance, he's probably not found the coffee machine at IAAF HQ yet...
How about the American girl, Huddle, run out the medals in the womens 10k for celebrating too early. Her coach must be livid.
