After much prevarication over which IM to choose for next year, the epic performances displayed last weekend, the inspirational race reports posted, the support at the event, along with Mentor Duda being on the start list too, I am now convinced.
I got permission for Mallorca but I melt if it gets over around 12degrees water temperature and this may well be a training reccy for PSOF Champs 2017?
SO I have entered IM Wales 2016 - OH MY GOD what have I done

I'm in too, as you know. Race yer'
Brilliant! It is an amazing race. Standing on the beach looking up at the crowds - magical! I look forward to some quality heckling! A lot of people there had Ocean Lava hoodies on - clearly a warm up event!
Runner, swimmer, cyclist and triathlete
Devoid of a competitive streak
Who cares, I'm in it for the medal!
....Standing on the beach looking up at the crowd of athletes and suddenly realising that you are going to drown unless you moved to the back....
The start is truly spine tingling. I wet myself, but at least I was warm.
Being in the sea and not being able to see land and suddenly realising that you are about to drown, full stop!
I'm in, from across the pond. Are you all ready for 37 questions about the area, etc?
Any idea where I should start with a bike hire? I'll be looking to rent a regular road bike. I've got an email into Pembrokeshire bikes already.
I'm in! I was supporting there last weekend, amazing day.
I am seriously considering this too. Went to watch last year and enjoyed it immensely, so taking part ought to be even better
Anyone know the name of the Hotel next to the finish line?
just a quick recommendation...if anyone has young children and they are coming to support and you are camping/ caravanning...
instead of kiln park have a look at the smaller sites out at new hedges.......it is a 1.75 mile walk down to town......
but sites like well park are on the course.they can just walk 20m to the road and watch the bikes go past twice and see the runners 12 times as its where the run fork is....but they are still close to the tent/ caravan for food and sleeps and playing etc
Thanks Seren, sounds good, will keep in mind.
I'm hopfully going to come along to support, but plan to do Mallorca next year.
EM, I stayed at the Giltar Hotel. Almost next to the finish line. Happy with the room/services/location and would use again.
Thanks B
Just to support Seren's point, my subjective opinion is that the campsite we stayed at in New Hedges (Well Park) is also much nicer than Kiln Park.
I'm in!
also a lot cheaper at £43 for the pair of us for 3 nights
but if you can afford a bit more.rent a cottage in town... We stayed in a cottage on the run route in town 2 years ago and for competing it was great .. ( could use the toilet instead of a portaloo.....). also little walking in the days before it was close to everything
We did.
Seren and I have holidayed together at least once.
Actually, what am I on about, at least twice!
Must stop looking at this thread... Must stop looking at this thread...
I've rapidly gone from "I'd like to do Wales again but not sure when" to "I'd like to do Wales again, probably in 2017 - assuming it is still in Tenby" to "I want to enter, I want to enter" all in the last 48 hours.
Wish you lot would hurry up and take all the places so it is taken out of my hands!
Iron Yank- might be worth having a look at https://www.spinlister.com, it got a mention on IM Talk a few weeks back. Coverage doesn't look great for the UK at the moment, but things might yet pick up.
It's a lovely part of the world but does take some getting to as the roads get progressively smaller the closer you get to Tenby.
Sunnysider Phil, I would hate for you to miss the carnage that will no doubt be the result of my debut and we need someone to chase, go on you know you want to
I did make a little noise this evening... just a little and it was met with a 'well we wouldn't be going with you' which was better than I was expecting. That sounds quite positive, right?!
We stayed at, and will be staying at Roweston Caravan park in New Hedges, its right on the Y of the marathon, so 2.5 - 3 opportunities for support each lap
Its only about 15 mins walk into town and there is a coastal path option too.
Duda..you might have done it in 15 but it took me 30
Thats tantamount to book it now and treat yourself to a nice hotel cos you dont need to pay for me and the kids
Drat... I've miss-understood that sign then as I got the same response when discussing Boston marathon and for that I ended up booking myself into a hostel! Time to re-book I think!!
Why am I here?
Lalalalalalala
I've just signed up for this - will be my first full distance and I'm absolutely terrified. Don't like swimming, don't like cycling. What could possibly go wrong?!
cjdh: .....What could possibly go wrong?...Answer: the running.

Well it's Mallorca for me
but pirate champs 2017
