then it'll get interesting.... if the revenue growth doesn't come from more events, then it'll gave to come from either putting prices up (unlikely to be a successful strategy in a market that is oversupplied) or by making the event a bigger experience and therefore attracting more revenue.... events village anyone?
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
Hmmmmm . . . IM Scotland. That would dramatically shorten my list of excuses. Still, a swim in a crystal clear, tropically warm highland loch, a downhill bike and a pancake flat run all sounds quite appealing. Irn bru, tattie scones and battered, deep-fried pizza at the aid stations, a goodie sporran filled with tablet and a finishers see-you-Jimmy hat - Jockman here I come.
Yep would be in in a shot!! Sure the weather would be a potential issue (esp if we got a 5-seasons in one day type day...) but it would be scenic and I also would have few excuses travel wise... I await with baited breath!!! The tattie scones sound an awesome idea
I really hope it's not just another venue in England.
If not Scotland, then Northern Ireland would make a superb venue. There are some fantastic bike routes throughout NI, and somewhere like Newcastle (County Down) would rival Lanzarote for it's beachfront finish line - with Guinness, rather than San Miguel, on tap post-race.
I'm sure there has been an IM distance tri in Scotland in the past. Jaguy and I did Aberfeldy half (well nearly, neither of us did the swim!) and it's tough, but a beautiful course

It surely got to be in the southern half of the UK... there is a huge tri audience in London and the south, that surely Messick must have his eye on?
Even Weymouth is quite a long way west, and a bit too close to Wimbleball imho
I'd like to see one in Essex (bit flat though) or somewhere like Herts or Bucks (maybe too much nimbyism though).. Cambridge would work well, and would be a marketing dream...

There is the alternative argument MC. The north (i.e. north of Manchester and Scotland) is poorly served and if you want to promote something expand to a new audience. The Lake District offers fantastic evening venues, as does Yorkshire and Northumberland. Just look at the support given to La Tour in 2014, this years Tour de Yorkshire, the ITU coming to Leeds for a proper race rather than a peddle around a park which is all London offers!
Its always seemed to me that those of us living in the north will travel to race but those in the SE just want everything on their doorstep, and that's an opinion formed years ago when the national duathlon was held in Durham and was more or less ignored by athletes down south.
But that's just my opinion, and seems to be reinforced by the time it's taken to sort out a venue for Pirates Xmas get together, as long as it's in the south that's going to be ok? But maybe I've misread that one?
as a final grumpy olde man comment, I think I'd probably feel the same if I lived in Northern Ireland!

be interesting if it is.... not sure the weather will be their friend...
personally, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see an event in the south east, but what do I know!
We're spoilt for choice for IM races now.
Prices will start dropping or events will fall off the calendar soon if Outlaw not selling out is anything to go by

and could we have tunnocks caramel wafers at the aid stations ?
(I guess there would never be the wetsuit/non wetsuit debate )
what are the rules on swimming in a drysuit, or with a heated wetsuit system?

Plus City to Summit?
Ironman Corp have confirmed that it will be a 70.3 event, dates and venues still to be confirmed
Baltic this year, shortened courses, booties and gloves allowed etc.
cardiff is my bet then
or somewhere over south east england way
Scotland? Then...
Tri wheels to swot the flies?
sun cream and SAS anti bug lotion
Looks likely that It's going be a take over of Weymouth (70.3 only) now the Challenge contract has finished.
