I was thinking about running this 1/2 marathon. Just got the entry form, but it doesn't have the closing date for postal entry - any ideas, do I now have to take a chance and enter on the day?
I did Watford 1/2 and am still recovering from those hills - any major hills for the Roding 1/2?
If you are thinking of doing the London then the Finchley 20 is a really well established race, dating back to 1933. You get a really good enamelled medal, goody bag, changing/showering facilities, a bar, light refreshments and have the satisfaction of running in the countries oldest race with an outstanding UK record course that has been not broken for 32 years. If you are preparing for London then you will want to run a race that will test you mentally so that you gain the confidence to feel good about yourself. If you can complete the Finchley 20 you know that you are going to do a good time for London.
Would be interested in doing this one. Anybody knows how many laps? How do you get there from central London? Can you enter on the day? Says undulating? Any serious hills to master?
Hi folks, I'm hoping to do this one too. Haven't applied but will turn up on the day and hope for the best. Ran it last year in 2hrs 2 mins, but have not been able to train as much this year so it will take longer this year. Am happy to meet up with anyone who will be plodding!
Legless, seem to remember you from last year's Halstead forum - are you running the London this year?
URR: It would good to meet up with you and other Forum members. Yes you should have no problem catching Central Line. Just check Transport For London's website for weekend engineering work and train timetables.
URR: I'm not sure if this is a PB sort of route. I have never run the route but have driven down the roads often. The main part heading north from the Start/Finish to Chigwell Stn is uphill. From there to Buckhurst Hill is also up and then down.
On the south-bound section the route involves crossing various roads. I'm not sure if traffic will be a problem.
This is my first HM ever. The week after I hope to set a PB at Reading HM - hence I don't want to go OTT at RV.
The week after that I'm running Brentwood with a newbie work mate so I'm back to 2-2.5 hr completion time then.

Not particularly local to me, but it's not far from my Mum, and one of my mates lives up the road, so I should be sorted for a post-race PINT!
:-)
No. 8. (Yikes!)
Then watching the Worthless Cup Final, come on the Boro.

I'll be doing Roding Valley HM. It's not only my local but also my first ever HM! I'm number 4.
Does anyone care to join me on anticipated 2hr completion time?

see you there!
I'll be looking at a 2hr+ finishing time...
Apparently you can enter on the day.
Jump on the central line to Woodford, which is about a quarter of a mile from the start.

nrg-b, I hope my "Urban Road Runners" vest will by ready by then Easy to spot!
I will be up for it, if I am not feeling to knackered after the RW last Friday 5k.
It's not traffic-free and looking at the map you might need David Prowse going ahead of you to stop-look-listen. ;-)

Where shall we meet?
As said earlier my race number is 4.
