...because, of course we all know they just want to claim benfits here, which is why they have left all they know and love in their peaceful, safe lives back home.
We'll never stop immigrants because if we did the rest of Europe would bu??er us up on trade cos they'd be stuck with all the bu??ers and wouldn't be happy. We have immigrants in this country to keep the French et al happy because of trade. it's not because of our attractiveness/soft touch or any of those other SUN headlines.
carold, which would explain why they were in liverpool! joking apart and it's no joke..i work with asylum seekers and refugees and they have to be here legally to claim the education.they have to report wih their HO documents etsc before they can enrol onto the course.most of the students that pass through this college would love to return to their country in order to rebuild it.many have lost members of their family and i have spoken to many young girls who were kept in rape camps, many have spoken of torture and seeing their family members murdered in front of them. yes there is a problem with illegal immigration but there are also many who come from countries such as south africa, australia, czech republic on student visas who are serving you your morning coffee in pret a manger, coffee republic etc and servig your pasta in pizza express.do we suddenly round them all up?the owners of these places know exactly who is legal.the next time anyone here is at some coporate do in the city and some outside caterers are serving you your nibbles ask them where they come from(if they are foreign)then ask them if they are here legally, then berate them for being illegal.it's not that simple.there are an estimated 2million people working in the black economy and that's a rough estimate.
Travis, what would explain why they were in Liverpool? The home Office? Not sure if you thought I was being serious, but just in case you did, I wasn't.
Everytime I switch on the news there's always some bloomin' Ausi or South African jabbering on about something (usually something to do with their job in the health service). Any time they want someone to moan about something to do with this countrys infrastructure it's almost always someone from the Southern Hemisphere.
dodge, i've met enough south africans slagging britain off and saying how much better south africa was under apartheid...why are they here then?are they not refugees in another form.
On the general topic of immigration, many essential public services in this country would keel over if they didn't have a steady supply of talent from abroad. I take the point about catering and cleaning but we also massively rely on foreigners for teaching, health, social work and a host of support services.
waaps, i also teach many health professionals who are trying desperately to convert their qualifiations so that they can get on with the job of saving lives but i guess the NHS can do without them.....er!
Nice to know someone has faith in me Wap I agree, and I know this is going to sound like a bit of a sweeping statement, but I'm gonna say it anyway. From my own personal experience the very people who moan about foreigners taking their jobs are often those on the dole. Like Wap said, the only jobs foreigners take are either those that no one else wants, or highly skilled jobs. We don't get loads of British doctors on the dole, and nor do we get loads of people on the dole saying 'I wish I could work really hard on minimum wage until I save enough money to buy my own corner shop then work every hour God sends in it.'

Ah well, my faith in Carold remains intact...
