I have a RW watch alarm going off at 5.30 every morning. It's in a drawer somewhere in the bedroom but I still hear it and of course, by the morning (having gone back to sleep in the meantime) I forget all about sorting and so it goes on...
In fact, where is that bloody watch, I'm going to sort it now, while I remember...
By the way, glad everyone else thinks this was a good race. Come on Hugh - we know you read the forum. What chance of a re-run next year?
Is this the RW way of getting us up at 5.30 the morning to train? Well if it is, they're gonna have to come up with something better than a rogue watch alarm, I can tell you!
P.S. - did anyone else see that guy running round on the grass coaching his girlfriend/wife/whatever in the race? He was using Skiing poles to kind of push himself round and was still doing rather well! What is that all about?
I saw you guys, wasn't sure at first because of no banner but recognised the vests!!!
Boyf, sprog and I were standing near you but I was too shy to say hi and then just as I was about to come over everyone got up and started to leave, felt a little silly so I did likewise!
Thanks for the pics heads up, Urban. Tara - I know the feeling! It's the perrenial forumite dilemma - do you go up to a total stranger and say, hello, I'm meerkat...at least you'll know us for next time.
It was nice to meet a few people indirectly off the forum. Nice to hear people beating their timings. Great run, Lovely scenery, very hilly and so much fun. Very well organised run and well done to those who provided the bus service. Without it don't know how or what i'd have done.
Lovely, smiling, marchalls, and what an honour to be started off by Sir Roger Bannister with the words "Try and enjoy the view" and "There's a big hill at mile 3" LOL!
It was a pretty low key race compared to the Nike 10k last year. No chip timing, t-shirts with numbers, warm up, big screens or upbeat music etc.
However, I enjoyed this one equally much. This race was about respect of the park, it's inhabitants and the nature.
I usually train at RP and I really appreciate the wildlife, the nature and the scenery. Isabella Plantation is one of my favourites.
I hope the charity has raised good amount for a very worthy cause. The view from Richmond Hill over the valley is stunning.
Well done Hugo Brasher and Sweatshop for honouring the memory of your father and founder!
Little trick if anyone wishes to save pics. Wont let you right click and save pic but if you got to 'file' and click save as, you can save the entire page, pics and all - also good to do as the pic isn't the right size on the webpage and looks a bit squidged!
Matt your pic isn't that bad. I swear they took one at the finush but can't seem to locate it on the website. Never mind....... Tara 10 K couldn't have been that hard. Was chatting to someone off here on the bus who went to finsbury gig afterwards. If you read this message hope you enjoyed the race and had loads of fun. Kill your mate for not taking part....
URR, raise hands? I don't think I was in a fit state to know that I was crossing the finish line! I was faced with a dilemma. I heard footsteps behind me approaching the finish, just as the bronchospasms kicked in. So of course, I slowed down and walked to the finish... not
Well done Helephant! Looks like you were flying, both feet of the ground in one picture, ready to take off
People! You have to practice this more on your training runs, it's very important. At the end of your run raise your hands for victory. If any bystander is concerned, tell him/her: Hey, I just won the FLM!
AR, had been at the red hot chillis gig at hyde park the night before, was a little worse for wear to say the least!
I found the race really enjoyable it was just that I started late, had a lot of catching up to do and I started sprinting too early on! I'm still a bit new to running, only been doing it for a few months, 10k is STILL really quite far for ME! :oD
(says she after recently signing up for great south run! - D'uhhhh)
Am quite happy with my pics to be quite honest (#1783) as I wasn't collapsed on the ground at that point, that happened soon afterwards! I do appear to have my eyes closed at one point though, perhaps I thought it would make the finish line appear closer!

The alarm on mine used to go off at 7pm every evening....never could stop it!!

My hair is twice as long as the pic and I'm normally very red faced when running!
