Gone Away: Yes, this forum does go beyond running to all sorts of interesting, controversial and stimulating topics, plus a lot of very amusing banter. But it stops short, on every other thread I have seen, of deliberately offending people, and that is what you have set out to do.
You have a perfect right to say what you want to say - as you have remarked, this is what free speech is about. You do not have the right to incite hatred, racial, religious, or otherwise.
Back to where it all began - if the Muslim runner would like to e-mail her query about training during Ramadan to me, I would be delighted to try to help. I work in an area with a large Muslim presence, and am accustomed to discussing the practical issues related to Ramadan.
To unleash a tirade about atrocities committed in the name of Islam when an unsuspecting runner posts a very genuine question in good faith is quite uncalled-for. If what I read above is a precis, I'm glad I missed the original feature..
I've already reported this back to the moderator, but just for the record free speech gives no rights to abuse a facility provided by and paid for by someone else.
Velociraptor, it was pure hate. There were one or two individuals who got the full blast of gone away's twisted logic. Believe me, he is being restrained on this thread. Well done Glenn.
Watch out Monkey - the moderator will get ya! Gone Away: My wife insists on toasting her Malt Loaf, do ya think she's nuts? I'd really value your opinion.
There was a thread last week called something like "Here's my best running tip". However, the author had left his message blank. As occasionally happens, silliness took over, with several forumites (me included!) agreeing how good this tip was, and suggesting others. Unfortunately the author took offence, and compared us to monkeys vandalising cars in safari parks (hence chimps new name....)by pulling off windscreen wipers.
neilruns, if your wife is nuts then she's responsible for the deaths of thousands of people all over the world who had nut allergies. I think she should carry a health warning. Like every thing in M & S. "May contain Nuts". I shouldn't wonder if this label is on their underpants too!
Neilruns It goes back to previous thread when the moderator stepped in. That one was funny though with the person who posted the original thread (I wont name him/her.Its possible he/she felt a litle embarrassed by the whole toys out of the pram scene so I wont compound that embarrassment) calling us all village idiots then saying we were like chimps breaking bits of windscreen wipers off thinking we were clever. That's when/why I changed my nickname to A Chimp Writes. I'm sure the thread's still there somewhere.
Gone Away, please. I could come up with endless rational arguments in opposition to what you said, despite the fact that you hadn't actually provided a rational argument in the first place. Many people did provide a rational argument in opposition to your views, and you responded (amongst other things) by making insinuations in Benz's direction. Neilruns note above demonstrates the ridiculousness of your position.

Well said Trickle - and neilruns - truly very funny! May I suggest that everybody stops posting here. Why give any further thought/effort to responding to this "Gone Away" character? Instead - come and read the excitement of all of us getting ready for the NY marathon on the URWFRC thread!
I said it before guys - quit answering this guy, he's wasting everybody's time and getting us worked up when all we want to do is relax and enjoy each other's company. Just ignore him and this thread too.
