Wobble boards!

I bought a wobble board to help with rehab after injury. I though it was going to be relatively easy to get the knack as I use one in the gym (has a rocker underneath not a ball) but am finding it really difficult to sstaybalanced for more a a second or two and I end up wobbling all over the place.
How long does it take to be able to do this and how long should I be trying for in one go?
