Hip busitis (trochanteric bursitis)

I developed this last week. It came on immediately I started running which is a bit worrying. I stopped after a mile and it was swollen. I have done nothing for a week and taken ibuprofen 3 x a day for 5 days. Its a bit better but still sore but less swollen. I have had a painful heel for about a month and think I may have been overcompensating on the other leg and thats where I got my issue from.
Does anyone have any advice on treatment for this?I am supped to be running london marathon in just over 4 weeks!

  • Ice and iburprofen and that helped me. Think i have developed ITB now whilst compensating.
  • Not a nice injury to have, also not much you can do apart from offload it, so training in water, X-trainer etc. However, the key issue is to sort the heel problem if you think it came because of that.
