April 1 st's lyrics were, "The Fool on the Hill", The Beatles.

Enjoy today, OL and Dustin! Hope to give you a shout at a couple of points, OL!

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    last hard: today really

    lyrics: yes, I believe so
  • and that's a controlled effort SC? Nice running! Glad the news about your brother is good too.

Have you decided about the ultra OH?

Hope you managed to spot Ollie and get a few miles in Alehouse.

Absolutely beautiful morning here, great running conditions so it seemed a shame not to make the most of them so I did. 24 miles run, won't go as far again before London.

Thanks LMH. Just ran to my monitor. Means I have finally got base fitness back. Very, very happy even if I know I won't see 1.30 or 24 miles again. Good effort LMH. Time for taper?

    Well done, SC

Saw OL around 9 miles looking very comfortable! And have seen his result, which I think he will be happy with given that it was a training run with a number on!

Nice training run, LMH! Hope London's conditions are as good as today's!

What: a very slow 23 minutes

Why: didn't need to rush from point to point. Legs feel as if they have done the marathon, rather than just 5k!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Fab running LMH & SC.

I've never done 24 miles in training. That would have taken too long :p

Good luck Ollie and good to have you back.

    What: 7miles done earlier
    Why: consistency
Last hard: doing a mountain of laundry and ironing
    Last rest: 17/2
    Lyrics: yes
  • I had all the time I wanted today chicksta:-)

Enjoying what we can do has got to be the key SC. Two week taper for me so last big mileage week this week all being well though the beginning of the week will see most of that.

I hope so too Alehouse. Excellent morning for marathon running.

    Hey all.

Had my first unofficial duathlon today following a hiccough with transport (was gonna scab a lift off of my Dad), so cycled ~9 miles to Old Trafford, followed by the marathon, then a cycle back home the same route.

Finished in ~3:26.49 by my watch, ran with a friend for 9 or so miles before he went off into the distance; not seen the official result yet but I am happy with sub-8 min/miles off sub-par training(going into the race felt similar to sitting an exam unprepared  ), and nice to spot AH along the route.

Stair descension is good so will take a month of recovery running, before dusting off the P&D/HIT books and shooting for a PB. :)

LMH: Nice 24 mile run, not long until London now.
AH: Hope you enjoyed spectating, and your jog from point to point, were any of your athletes running today?
OH: Thanks for the virtual cheer, though from memory, I'm sure I could hear one of your actual cheers from Scotland.
SC: Nice going on the Berlin half, sounds like you had a good race.
Chicksta: Nice going on the 7 miles, and conquering Mt. Laundry.
    Have a good day. image

Well done today OL! Nice duathlon. No involvement today: just cheered a few on that I know. Recover well!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Longish sea swim this afternoon as sun was out, 20+ minutes.
Great "duathlon" Ollie (although I suspect the transition times could be improved upon! ;) )
    well done SC
May try longer run tomorrow before taking final decision on Ultra. Els still keen so may be going down whatever. Nice long run in what sounds like very clement weather, LMH
  • It was gorgeous OH - you'd probably have melted though it was still a little chilly for me:-)

Really glad that you're pleased with your run Ollie - that bike ride probably served as a good warm up and cool down.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
