Training during off-season...? Still need to work hard?

Done with racing season here in Hong Kong. Quite a decent performance with podium places in 6/7 of my races for age group (10ks to HMs), though times were slightly down (getting older, 50 this year...yikes!)

Question is, from now till around September is "off-season" as it gets too hot and there are no races.  My old schedule involved running 6x/week, with a long run, an interval session, some hill sprints, often tempo runs, and then steady/recovery runs, totally around 60 to 70K a week.  What shall I do in this period to keep up fitness?  Not keen on intervals (of course), would fartleks be enough?

Grateful for any input on this - don't want to lose my mojo, and want to keep my VO2 reasonable.
