Sunday, 1 October 2017 - A little piece of you

Morning!

Well done, RFJ. Speedy :+1:

Good to see you, em. Get your iron and B12 checked. You may have a deficiency.

Enjoy, OH.

Today's lyrics:
A little piece of you
The little peace in me will die

  • Morning!

Yesterday's lyrics were Flowers in the Rain by The Move: the first record played on Radio 1, with the station celebrating its 50th birthday yesterday.

    Don't know today's lyrics.

    What: fitness suite

Why: force some weight through my Achilles
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • What: sitting in carpark after having dropped Elspeth off for marathon bus (7:30). My bus is not until 9:15 heading for Kinlochleven and start of Mamores half. The weather men were right and we have rain in Fort William due to continue all day.
Why? we asked ourselves that this morning!
    Last rest yesterday
    Last hard ?
    Lyrics no
  • Morning (well, it is here).

Arrived safely having made the short drive from Tampa through some absolutely torrential rain. Better weather today hopefully - low 30s - lovely
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Sounds lovely LmH, enjoy the break
    What - Basingstoke half marathon
    Why - my local
    last rest - 4 weeks?
    last hard - today

Not the easiest of courses: plenty of hills but it's on some lovely lanes.
Wasn't too sure on target based on fewer longer runs of late (last three races being mile, 5k, 5.4k) and knowing most of the pacers, the 1:30 guy said I should try to stick with him as training had been good of late. Sensed that would be a bit rich so aimed for 7:15s
Not easy to run even splits (there are two separate miles that are all climbing, another two all descents) but seemed to be there or thereabouts throughout. Put in some hard miles 10,11, and 12 but was treacle-esque the closing mile into the park/finish. 1:34:40 on the watch, will be 6-10s quicker on the chip. 69th overall, but will await V50 place. My club had 70+ runners and I was third V50 for us.
Absolutely knackered now. Oh that was course pb, it is around 3-4 minutes slower than the flat courses by general consensus. Overall ahead of goal, so can't complain.
  • Dustin : Great work on course PB and sounds like you are pleased well done.

LMH: Glad you arrived safe and sound but sounds like you have our rain.

OH: I hope the rain eases and all goes well for you and Els.

What: knee he said no so/5 mile walk

What :Knee is dictating at the moment

Last hard: see above and the rain

    Lyrics: Maybe
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.

    Afternoon

What: 5km this morning followed by pub lunch with my Dad and stepmum
    Why: why not :)
Last hard: bits of that 5 km.  Marathon in 2 weeks and I'm panicking about missing my final long run (I know I've done the miles but my head is messing with me!).
    Lyrics: nope

Glad you arrived safely LMH.  How is it looking after all the hurricanes?

    Dustin great work!

    WP look after that knee.

Chick, serious needle phobia (fainting, sky high heart rate etc) means that may prove to be tricky...if it continues I will (eventually) go get checked out.

    Have a good evening all.

    Nice one Dustin

Steady medium long run today for 9.32m

Emz, hope all goes well when you do get the things checked out

Off to the North tomorrow as going to Bible college for a week for a Mens Ministry short course near Chesterfield.

    Take care
  • Chesterfield north?
  • Nice HM, Dustin :+1:

Totally with you on the needle phobia, em. But sometimes needs must.

    Glad you arrived safely, LMH.

    Naughty knee, poppy :(

Oh: how did it go today?

What: furthest run since April 23 (5 miles) and loved it. 20 bike miles in the afternoon.
    Why: Gorgeous day
    Last hard: not running further
    Last rest: 5/8

  • Last post seems to have lost 2nd half

Very wet and hilly but completed in 2:54. Els did full marathon in 6:13. Not PB courses!

Sounds like a tough day at the office, OH, and Els! Well done for toughing it out, both!

    And well done, Dustin!

  • That’s great chicksta.

emzap - might be worth supplementing anyway? Don’t worry about missed miles, they’ve gone and better 10% undertrained etc.

They don’t sound like fast courses OH. Was the weather as bad as forecast?

Sounds like a good time for the course Dustin.

Not a single dolphin spotted today - I do hope they haven’t moved.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
