Brighton or Manchester for first marathon?

Got my first half marathon under my belt so looking to set a new target for next year and do a marathon sometime from April onwards. I live in London so Brighton isn't too far away, but I've read plenty of good things about Manchester, especially in terms of being flat and beginner-friendly. Any thoughts on these for a beginner? Alternatively, are there any others that would be worth considering?

Manchester is better than Brighton going on reviews and a look at the courses. and first hand reviews too

I did Manchester as my first marathon last year and would recommend it. Haven't done Brighton so can't compare but have heard it is decent. I think either would be fine so it might come down to other factors-such as cost- in making a decision.

Chatting to someone earlier who hasn't done Brighton but has run some of the route. Said it could get quite blustery at the seafront on a bad day.

I haven't done Manchester but have done Brighton and its a good race.  I think they would both be good first time marathons.  I would go with whichever one is easiest for you logistics wise. Brighton is closer but can be a pain as you have to collect your number the day before. I made the mistake of getting to the expo at about 3pm and the queue was 1.5 hours long.  I picked the worst possible time to go.

The collection thing does seem a pain with Brighton especially as all accommodation has been hiked to ridiculous prices. Really think organisers should reconsider sending packs out. Didn't seem to be a problem for Cardiff Half Marathon organisers to post 20,000 packs.
