Well done to the marathon men - great work.

Harmander:Commanded at the palace, wonderful; suffering the company of Boris, now that really warrents a medal.

    Nell: Wild guess, Peter Elliot?

YTD: 149.3 Todays Parkrun was chilly, muddy in part and really enjoyable - time and placing, slightly above expectations.

    Howdy pardners.

Goodness how this thread moves apace... so exciting to see everyone's progress!!!

Sounds like you've had plenty of time to adapt to hot running, Dubai. Well done on the running streak - managing to fit it round the barbies and other socialising... hahaha!

Well done on the new 5K PB, Lilly - excellent work in such difficult weather conditions!

Thanks for the "heads up" about Harmander's pacer photo, senidM... also allowed me to take a look at which pacer I might try to follow myself

Great banter with Vunipola, Harmander - would love to see a picture of you two side by side  Excellent streaking by you as well - no wonder you're starting to feel it a bit now! Congrats on passing 400 miles - way to take it easy this year (NOT!).

Steven - we're meant to feel tired during mara training... but I know what you mean about the strength sapping fatigue - not nice. Glad to hear it seems to have passed a bit now! Very happy to hear of the improvement in your foot as well. Good long run too - seems like it's all coming together nicely.

Hobie - tantalisingly close and then smashing through the 200 barrier - congratulations  Great to hear of your double up day as well, and the emergence of daffs in Wales... very apt!

David - many congratulations on the sub-4:00 marathon is such soggy conditions... a great achievement, well done.

Very nice regular miling, Andrew... and really nice parkrun time - very nippy

Well done on your surprisingly positive parkrun Donnie - always nice when things work out like that. Excellent mud slugging by you. Good guess... but no cigar. Wrong era - you need to think pre- Coe and Ovett.

Did another nice track session on Thursday night - shorter but quicker reps (3 x (2 mins (60 sec)), 3 x (90 sec (90 sec)), 3 x (60 sec (2 mins)), 4 x (30 sec, 30 sec)) - total mileage incl. w/u and c/d was 5.49 miles... no running to and from the track this week as it's a cut back week and I've got a HM race on Sunday.

Just a short leg shake out today in preparation for the Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool tomorrow. Will be pancake flat running up and down the Promenade... but I'm dreading the strong wind!!! Run today was 3.61 miles.

YTD: 224.12 miles (Ooo - dropping behind Steven! :open_mouth:)

Not ate a thing all day and just got up now to post this message.

'ello, 'ello 'ello... what's going on 'ere then!?

Oh no, Harmander - really sorry to hear you're unwell! Maybe you accidentally ate one of the vol au vents "specially prepared" for the Queen by Prince Charles at your command event :lol: ... or the Queen is trying to do you in. In all seriousness - hope you recover soon... it's so unlike you to be ill :(

Had the Great North West Half Marathon this morning in Blackpool. Couldn't believe the weather - bright sunshine and really very warm in the sheltered sections of the course. Rather breezy head wind in the exposed sections though - and surprisingly hilly for running up and down the promenade! We had to clamber up from a very low footpath on the promenade to the main bit of the promenade at road level, then it was distinctly "undulating".

Anyway... that's all the excuses out of the way  - but don't need them as I did a nice big PB, by almost 2 mins! 1:41:54.56 (previous PB 1:43:48) :sunglasses: My work colleague also PB'ed with 1:23:00.17... don't worry - I won't mention the 17-hundredths of a second to him... MUCH! Total mileage with w/u was 13.71 miles.

    YTD: 237.83 miles.

Congrats on the excellent PB nell!

Congratulations on the half marathon PB Little Nell, next target has surely got to be the 100 minute mark. Check your time at Boston as the first 20 miles are downhill.
You are keeping me on my toes Dubai Runner - despite my tummy trouble I felt I just had to go out for the eighth straight day - can't remember how far back I ever did that (apart from my competitive day decades ago) - did a straggly 15.02 miles in 3:03:37 and felt exhausted compared with normal time of under 2:30.
    YTD = 428.85 miles
Not running tomorrow so you will be catching up soon.

Well done Nell on your new PB and really racking uo the miles to boot!!

Great effort Harmander getting out there when unwell, real commitment!

Had a late night run after work tonight, was bloody knackered and not feeling it but got it in with preperation for Sundays Brighton Half.

4 miles done and 78.88 YTD should break 100 by end of week.

    Great PB Nell, well done.

Great commitment Harmander (you're braver than me risking a run with tummy trouble) & Lilly, not always easy to get out when you're not feeling great so good work. Lilly, enjoy breaking the 100 barrier, good to gave that next target on the horizon.

20 miler yesterday morning in just under 3 hours for me before the rain started, felt good & great to see loads of other folk out bright & early.

    224 miles YTD.

    Well done Nell! :-)

I just did 4 easy recovery miles yesterday following the parkrun on Saturday, and have a rest day scheduled for today (which will be no bad thing as I have picked up a cold it seems).

Superb running from so many ... I'd be here all day. Special mention to Nell on the new HM PB, top drawer!

I hope those fighting illnesses etc... are all feeling better soon.

My typical (recently anyway) pre-work run this morning, but with a new wee 'tightness' at the top of my left calf ... still there after lunchtime walk, something for me to keep an eye on.

    Morning all,

What a great thread we have this year, I am really enjoying the read each time I log on.

Lilly61, Congratulations on the 5K PB, and good luck for Sunday's HM.

Steven, Great work, keep it going and glad the foot is now better (Violin has been put away for time being)

Dubai Runner, Well done on passing the 300 mile mark, I must say that sounds like an interesting challenge you are currently doing, I might just have a go at that myself shortly.

Hobie, Well done in passing the 200 miles, and great run yesterday.

Nell, Great PB, well done, isn't it great when all the training we do finally seems to pay dividend's.

Harmander, Hope you feel better soon, and congratulations on passing the 400 mile mark, although reading your posts, I feel beating Mo is somewhat unlikely, I was lucky to run with Adam Holland (current world record holder for the fastest 10 in 10) and he broke the course record for the route I was running on Thursday by finishing in 2.45, he seems to "glide" instead of run! truly impressive to watch, but good luck with that anyway!

As for me a confirmed time of 3.58.45 for Thursday's 8 lap marathon, in what was testing conditions along the Thames path (Walton on Thames), so very pleased with myself and I do believe I still had a little extra left in the tank.

    Stat's for last week;

    13.02.18 - 3.75
    15.02.18 - 26.2
    18.02.18 - 3.75

    YTD = 189.9

I shall have an easier week this week as my next Marathon is on Monday 26th, this one is an SVN event based in Kent (a 5 lap run along the seafront) Folkestone I believe, or at least in that area.

    Great work everyone.

    Evenin' all!

Many thanks for all the congratulations - very kind

Urrghhh, Dubai - I could only ever run at 0430 by approaching it from the back side... i.e. staying up through the night and running before I then go to bed! I'm guessing that might have been what you did if you came off a shift? Well done, as your miles mount up chasing Harmander

Good to hear you're giving yourself at least one day's rest, Harmander. Well done on your 15+ miles. I'm enjoying you experiencing the feeling of being chased down by Dubai... an unusual one for you, I think

Great fortitude by you, Lilly - well done on getting out for a late one, especially when really not feeling it. That's real determination! Best of luck for the Brighton HM - do you have a target time in mind?

Nice long run there, Hobie. You're right back up with Steven and me... a real three-way tussle, I think

That's a good total on Saturday, Andrew. Sorry to hear one of the myriad forms of the lurgy has got hold of you. Look after yourself.

Great to see you, Andrea! Hope you've managed to kick all the illness into touch now. Really well done on getting out for a 10-miler... hopefully that will kick-start your return.

Take care of your calf Steven (oddly enough my calf was having a grumble today too!). Feel free to have a few days rest... as you pull further ahead of Hobie and me!:lol:

An excellent confirmed time, David... really well done - it sounds like you're really strong at the moment. All the best for your next multi-lap event. I doff my cap at your mental strength... I found the multiple laps in Blackpool a bit sapping - knowing about all the "ups" that were coming on the next lap!

Unusually for me, I did my lunchtime run wth my work colleague today instead of tomorrow. I have a customer event tomorrow and he's off to Seville for the Man. U. match so we decided to squeeze in a gentle run today. Legs were a bit tired - and the aforementioned calf had a few complaints ... but I soon ran out the kinks. Managed an easy paced 4.86 miles.

    YTD: 242.69 miles.

    Ooops - me again!

Usual club track night tonight. I was soooooo tired - had a customer "Red Carpet" day today where I have to be on the ball and "performing" all the time. Think it went well though. Anyway... dragged myself out for some laps but didn't push it hard as I could still feel Sunday's race in my legs. Total mileage was 4.68 miles.

    YTD: 247.37 miles.

Some amazing running on here at the moment, being part of this really does inspire and motivate..

Nell - love your updates, so much passion! Nearly at the qtr stage now!

David Charman - some solid running, good luck on the 26th

Andrea Dawson 2 - Get well soon, like so many that seem to be struggling right now.

Hobie - feeling it again! Love an early morning run, just cant get to do it too much due to work.

Todays run was a lovely steady run round my local park this evening, the chill seems to be getting less each run and felt lovely tonight, really felt good today running 6.6 miles wiyh loads in the tank. Now saving energy for Sunday with a couple of easy 5ks on the run up.

    Puts me onto 85.48 YTD

    Keep running hard everyone ?

Nell, my 0430 run was setting the alarm early! Did the same the next day and went back to sleep!
My plan to run the kilometers for every day is over, on the 19th got to 11.9 and thought I can't be bothered! Was over 30 degrees and I was tired and hungry.

    19.2 7.39 miles
    20.2 rest day
21.2 7.56 miles - felt like a new set of legs after a rest day

YTD 342 miles - think you're going to be safe Harmander!

Nell: 1.42 - good stuff, your efforts are being rewarded. Under 100 mins next time out?
    Without 'google', Ron Hill?

Dubai Runner: Good effort with the kilometres / days challenge - I like it, although could never complete it.

Dave C: I know I could check the results, but what sort of fields do these mid week multi lap events attract? I assume they're rather low key affairs?

Lily: Good luck for Sunday, keep warm!

    Best foot forward everyone.

Yesterdays run was fine from a time and distance perspective, unfortunately I do seem to be annoying my left calf, more than I am comfortable with anyway - I've strapped it up and tomorrows plan is for an easy effort, so we'll see if I need to rest it and drop the long one this week. :/

Great efforts from everyone - remember to stay cosy as apparently the cold weather is coming back.

Banked another 5 miles last night, which left me with a tight foot/ankle so I'm keeping a close eye on that today before making a decision about tonight's run.

Donnie2, In the last year I have run with three local event organisers who specialise in midweek events, all do have weekend events as well.

Phoenix Running, most of the midweek events are Thames path based from Walton on Thames, generally 40 - 60 runners, they have however got a new route near Harlow (I believe Harmander did one there a while ago)

SVN Running, they are based in Kent and most of the runs are around Deal / Folkestone, again generally around the 40 - 50 mark. They do have various other routes and a new one around a cycle path in Gravesend, I believe that chap Harmander was going to do one there too, but the Queen seemed more important!

Finally, Running miles, their events are west London (Hillingdon) / Windsor area and very low key with only 25 - 40 runners, however very well organised and enjoyable, and guess who has run with them as well!

Yes David Charman, it was me again in the last one too.
I do believe 'Nice Work' sometimes organise midweek runs too but off road (cycle tracks usually)
