Run, walk, run or run all way 10k?

Got my first 10k in 2 week. I only started running late last year with the man who organises the 10k. He didn’t have time to keep doing weekly sessions after January. So I have been running alone to train for 10k I have been running (slowly) all way even doing 10k in 1 hour 40 min. I have been reading the run, walk, run method can be faster. I have done this a bit and does seem at least as fast if not faster than running all way. 

As the 10k getting closer and honestly I haven’t done as much running this month a few 2k and a 4K I’m thinking I mite try the run, walk, run and see what time difference there is as I’m hoping to have a run with man who organises the 10k next week so mite test both methods out then.
