Best thing to cover up sore feet for marathon?

I'm due to run a marathon next Sunday but the heel of my feet were sore after my last long run and haven't recovered that well since.  I can't see any noticeable blisters but the top skin has rubbed away even though I wore my normal blister proof socks.

Is there any tape that will protect my heels from further damage but will stay on for 26 miles?.

Zinc oxide tape should work. Problem will be wrapping it up tightly enough to stay on for 26.2 miles. If you go down this route, have a dry run with it first, it may be uncomfortable?

Also think about applying a lubricant to your heel, I use a silicon-based one (think it's called 2 Toms or something like that?) on my toes and it makes a big difference.

  • You could try sticking a Compeed over them (other brands are available but I've found them less reliable) or as rodeo says using something like Body Glide on them instead.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
