I ran Brighton in April and now want to get back to running a 10k. I had a week off after the marathon and run about 3-4 times a week since, but have been lazy with my long runs and longest has been only 8 miles. Can I rely on the long runs I did in marathon training or do I need to up my long runs?. I've doing a lot more speed work and threshold runs since and 5k times have been quickest for 6 months.
I tried a 10k 7 weeks after my first marathon 2 years ago and really struggled after about 6k with the pace really dropping off. Don't know if this was delayed tiredness from the marathon or lack of faster running.
