Manflu has me firmly in its grasp, throat so sore I cry when I eat, ribs so sore I am afraid to breathe, when will this purgatory end? How did I drag my knackered leg so cheerfully up Polly Shortts just a week ago?
I was thinking of entering Abingdon but I am worried I will be soaked in urine so I think I'll give it a miss Going to look for something more avant-garde to run. Although I suppose urine is quite out there
Scared of making a 2020 thread given I did not finish this year; will leave it to someone more proficient than I
Hope everyone is recovering from their colds., especially Slow Duck as I think it’s Western States next weekend? Seems slightly odd (good I think) that we all seem to be suffering with colds/coughs/man-flu rather than running injuries!
Happy to report I'm almost recovered from my cold from Durban, going to try a 5k & a 10k race this coming weekend just to get away from long runs for a while.
Almost 100% that I'll take a break from Comrades next year so that means I'll have to stay well away from the 2020 thread in case I get sucked back in
I'm the last to post as I only returned from Namibia on Wednesday. I enjoyed your report Tom and congrats on overcoming your demons. I certainly faced those in my race but was delighted to get a medal when it was touch and go if I'd make the start line. It was my slowest but the most satisfying.
It was great to catch up with everyone and it also amazes me how fast the time passes between each year. I had not met Peter R before and he helped fix my number on the back which had part detached and then after a few exchanges we made our introductions! Congrats on the green number and the Bill Rowan.
Lowrez and Seren, sorry that you didn't make it this year. I recall at the Mug and Bean that Lowrez said when he was at the top of Polly's they were rolling up the timing mat and he shouted "Oy, put that back!". I hope like the Terminator you are saying "I'll be back". Hope you get that leg sorted.
Congrats to all the other finishers, and the first timers whom are surely coming back next year?!
Best of luck at Western States tomorrow Slow Duck. By my calcs, 12.8km of ascent/decent, brutal is not a strong enough word!
Welcome aboard Dubai Runner. A lot from Dubai seem to do this race. It's the best race in the world and you won't regret it. On this thread we've got many years of Comrades between us, so ask away.

Becca - we had a fabulous time on safari. Best possible post Comrades recovery routine - eat, relax, see cool stuff and can't possibly go for a run!
Good luck at Western Stares SD - tough event
Thanks Becca for when you saw me on the course. You ran by at just the right time as I was on a dip. Much appreciated

I genuinely think it took me a similar amount of time to write as running Comrades did

Good luck tomorrow SD … is it possible to track you?
I feel now it's a now or never. And I've got 11 months to train!!
I read your report Thomas and it's done nothing but fuel my interest.
So I hope you guys don't mind me joining on here, I'll have lots of questions!!!
Good luck to Slow Duck this weekend.
