I don't know whether it's caused by a mental thing, or lack of fluids. Either way it seems to really affect my performance over shorter distances.
I have OCD so i've always had habits, and when I run, all I think about when I push myself hard is that i'm going to retch. Swallowing increases the urge to retch, but for me, telling myself I can't swallow is like putting a massive red button in front of me and saying 'do not press'.
I don't know what my options are. I try just running through it but the noise of me retching around a course must be horrid to hear. Would meditation/breathing techniques help?

Good idea to work on some breathing techniques to keep yourself calm and in control, you might have to slow down your running pace for a while to get used to doing it.
