Tuesday, 14 August 2018 - Can you be my doctor

Morning!

Lyrics today: Can you be my doctor? Can your fix me up?

Sensible decision, em. Fingers crossed it pays off. That needle phobia sounds pretty bad.

Windy out there today. Planning 10 or 11. Need to keep a lid on things this week :)

    Morning Chick,

You won the race this morning;-)

Sorry I was AWOL yesterday I was feeling not myself

Em: It sounds like you need those 5 days rest and hope you go to GP and can solve the problem?

Benjy: I would go get it checked out for your own sanity and hope it is nothing too serious.

LMH: Well done on race and so close to your PB well done great  race report.

After me worrying about foot and not really happy with progress I expected to be back running by now.We went off to A+E outcome broken foot, boot on foot and 6 weeks for it to heal which was a devastating blow as my first race of the year was in 3 weeks 2 in September and 2 in October so they are a no go and apart from one(unsure about defering GSR) I can not defer my place and will lose the money:-(GSR was my all out attempt for a PB and one I was looking forward  too:-(
So the date to start running in diary 25th september I can do nothing to retain my fitness  but know it will come back quickly so I better focus on not getting any fatter:-(
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.

    Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - No Excuses by Meghan Trainor.

I hope the break works emzap.

Really sorry to hear that Poppy.

Hope your tyre is sorted OH and doesn't interfere with your holiday plans.

It sounds as though you're feeling sprightly chicksta.

How is your knee after that Alehouse?

    What:             short and easy
Why:              back and shoulder stiff and achey (probably DIY related)
Last hard:      preparing a speech for a conference next week
    Last rest:       12/6

    Lyrics - no.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning!

Oh dear, WP! Terrible news! Hope that you can find a way to do some cross training, some stretches and upper body work at least. September 25th seems quite ambitious so don't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen. Physio?

Hope you got a decent run in, Chick. And your short and easy, LMH.

What: Tuesday is my big Pilates type day

Why: No run, even though knee doesn't feel too bad this morning but playing safe. Back still playing up, but today it is from spending hours yesterday going through work files.

    Very grey here today.

    Lyrics: no

Welsh: Oh no, that's a disaster, really truly sorry to hear about that. Please don't get too down about it, frustrating. Although it won't be what you enjoy most there must be something you can do to keep fitness up. Resistance training with light weights, a regular routine using tons of reps but low weights? Different body parts on different days? I know when I was recovering from hernia op, the six to eight week period after op was really frustrating, so got some incredibly low-weight dumbells and did exercises. Almost on a par with dry-swimming.

OH: Regarding hernia op, it was 13th March 2017, so more or less 18 months now. I had the pain that I have now on and off since initial recovery. It would go away, then I woud think great, then came back around again. Went to see GP, he was concerned and referred me to specialists. I saw two specialists one using ultrasound and the second the surgeon that fixed me up. That was two months ago, they said the hernia repair is fine and strong. I was told though that the level of exercise I do could pull and strain as the mesh has no elasticity like muscle. So I'm up a gumtree really, having only just gone through tests and consultation. If I ease off for a couple of days it then stops grumbling, but if I do quite a bit it comes back with vengeance. I had both sides done with full open surgery.

    Emz: Wise choice

What: Steady away lunchtime run with Jeremy Vine, TKD tonight

Why: 'Werkin and don't want to over-exert at moment

    Lyrics: Apt but beyon me

WP - I'm really sorry to hear that, but What Benjy said - don't let it get you down and plan ahead.
The time will soon pass and you'll be back better and stronger!
Benjy - sounds grim with the post op strains. I guess the unpredictability of when and how strong it plays up must be frustrating.

    What - easy lunchtime
Why - not training tonight (out with friends) and legs still jaded so taking the foot off the gas.
    last rest - June
    last hard - Sunday

Oh, no Poppy! That's really bad news. Devastated for you. And all this because some w****r parked their car where they weren't supposed to  You were putting these incredible weeks together! At least you're on top form. Would agree with Benjy's suggestion. Maybe some sessions in the pool could work as well - like pool running or swimming with a pull buoy?

LMH: hope your short and easy was good.

Ale: sounds like things are moving in the right direction for you.

    Dustin: Enjoy your day off

Benjy: Hope it will settle. You've done all the right things I guess. Frustrating when tests come back clear but you can feel things aren't quite right.

I felt good this morning when I got up but my legs had ideas of their own. Dunno what happened to them or the tarmac which must have been turned into treacle by some evil fairy. Almost gave up but then I thought Poppy would now pull those big girl pants up and that's exactly what I did. 11 miles d&d. I only hope my legs aren't like that on Sunday!

LMH enjoy your short and easy - I bet you have flying feet too!

    what: 2 miles d&d am
why: also out with a mate tonight
    last hard: this morning
    last rest: 31/12/16

Breaking in new shoes, wore them last night and this morning.  Only did 3 last night.  I rarely seem to get a pair that is instantly comfy, anyone else have this?  It is my feet I am sure! The shoes take about 100 miles t o be truly bedded in. Before that as soon as I go over about 2 miles they start to sort of burn.  The only ones I ever bought and were comfy from the off was a pair of Adidas boost but then they changed them and they weren't the same.  So frustrating!
Anyway, have a good day all

In over 10 years of running this is the first pic that I'm happy with :)  So much that I just made it my new forum pic.

Wabo: Sorry to hear about shoe woes. I hate it when you have a comfy pair and they change them. Happened to me with Saucony Kinvaras a couple of years ago. Been dabbling with lots of different ones since then, none of which were perfect and all of them had to be broken in until I found Hoka Tracers (they're the ones in the pic). They do feel amazing. I have two pairs on the go at the moment.

Great pick Chicksta.  (((WP))) Ouch...heal well and take your tim. Great running LMH
Dublinia was fun. Did Tolka Valley parkrun at 09.30 then took a taxi to start of RnR 5k which started at 10.00. Got here just in time as they were taking down the start timers at 10.12! Half mara was a slog as OS was injured so slow and long morning but job done.
    What: 4miles
Why: Rose Inn Race series tonight
    Last hard: Sunday
    Last Rest: Yesterday
    Lyrics: Familiar but no

A few breaks between the heavy downpours this afternoon so took in 4 miles by Neptune's Staircase (Caledonian Canal).
New tyre was required; wallet a little lighter but mobile again.
